Daytona 116518 v 126518

Concerning the Rolex Daytona Golden and Bright Black …

do you think the Dial color has changed from the 116518 to the 126518 ?

Or is this just lighting, where I see a difference ? (Both photos taken from the Rolex website.)

The Hour Markers are obviously changed … plus a Bezel “guard / ring” added to the 126518 … any other changes … size, shape, lugs, crown guards, sub dials, etc. ?

116518

126518

These are both renders - not actual images.

it is therefore impossible to make a comparison

If anyone has side by side photos of the real watches, please post those.

I agree …

The 12 is ”classier” looking to me, and the 11 more sporty.

As is, I prefer the 11 over the 12.

If the colors are true to the representations above, then I really prefer the 11 over the 12 … to the point of wanting the 11 badly, and not wanting the 12 at all.

I have been on the waitlist for the 11 for almost three years, and if I’m ever offered the 12, I will have to make a thorough in person inspection, before pulling the trigger … otherwise, it will be off to the preowned market I go.

Both beautiful! Old one looks sportier and new one more elegant. I'd take either one.

The newer version also has the glide lock, which is a big plus IMO.

Yes on the Yorkshireman's Vid the main difference is the black surrounds on the dial and the glidelock. The dial is a shade lighter he says on the new. Overall I prefer the old dial and markers.

Both watches taken on my wrist, the 116518 is the one I own and the 126518 was at the AD.

If given the luxury of a choice, I would choose your 116518 … just beautiful … maybe my favorite Rolex … that I would want to own … I like the Platinum Daytona, but I don’t really want to own that one.

Do you recall any perceivable differences, besides the hour markers, bezel ring, and Glide Lock ?

I’m disappointed that I was never offered the 116518 (3 years waiting), considering I was offered the 116500, and bought it, in that same time period.

I’m very torn between old and new Daytona in general. This one is easier to decide I think. You either want the black markers or not.
