Quick Panerai question

I recently acquired a PAM 048. I love it.

My question is, just for my own knowledge; is there any significance to the numbered out of 1000 thing on the caseback?

I assume it means it’s limited but Omega does LE stuff all the time and it makes no difference.

Is this actually rare???

Thanks for any enlightenment :)

This

"The Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00048 was produced in a limited edition of 5000 examples in 2002."

I Googled this. What is your year?

After more research I see they made that model a lot of years. So I would say it's not that rare. Do a search on Chrono 24 and you will see a bunch for sale. Nice watch by the way!

Thank you! I am enjoying it very much.

I found the same kind of details as well but wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I believe mine is from 2009, that’s what I was told anyway. I haven’t bothered to look further into that.

I was happy just believing what I had read about it but today I saw a listing for a similar watch and it was described as “rare” so I figured I’d ask around here for any extra info :)

That's great.

But it's rare in the fact that you probably won't see anyone else wearing that watch out in the wild! Wear it proudly!

This should help:
https://panerai.watchlounge.com/watc...ina-automatic/

The xx/ 1000 goes by letter reference.
seems like its a L,P,Q, or R based on my quick search.
The letter will correspond to a year.... then the xx/ 1000 will be the number it was out of the limited run that year.

Panerai then has special "limited editions" that are more special than this "normal" limited run.

But either way, great watch.... not too common. Welcome to the Pam-ily.

lol @ “Pam-ily” I appreciate a good pun :)

Thanks for the added info. Mine is an L so I’m gonna look into that on the site you provided.

It is a great watch. Been taking up most of the wrist time since I got it!
