Buying a Jubliee bracelet for GMT

Has anyone successfully purchased a jubliee bracelet while retaining the original oyster the GMT came with via AD?

I asked my AD when I purchased my BLNR and he said it was possible but when he called Rolex they said no. I've called the Rolex boutique along with several independent ADs and all have said no for now.

Has anyone purchased one in the last one or two?

Yeah you can only get an oyster bracelet for a GMT if you already have the jubilee. For some reason they will not sell you a jubilee if you have an oyster

Rolex changed their policy a few months ago that is why you can't buy them direct anymore to replace the original Oyster.

I got a Jubilee for mine which originally came on Oyster, from the London RSC in January 2023. My understanding is that they no longer offer a Jubilee for an Oyster clad 126610.

I have attended multiple Rolex training sessions where this question has been brought up. A GMT can have any bracelet that is an option for its model number, regardless of what that specific watch was sold with. This is a model number / bracelet number relationship. An owner can have both a jubilee and an oyster bracelet; there is not an obligation to exchange one for the other.

The problem with ordering a jubilee bracelet for a modern GMT is not due to allowance, but actual availability. Rolex is in the business of selling watches, ergo new product takes priority over customer-owned pieces. If you want a jubilee bracelet, you may have better luck obtaining one once production improves.

I think this thread references 6 digit GMTs however for the 16710 you can have both. I have a quote from my Australian RSC for an outright jubilee bracelet whilst retaining the oyster. The condition is they must install the jubilee, you can’t leave RSC with the new bracelet separately - not a big deal. The cost is eye watering… $2.5k AUD.
What they won’t do is sell you different bezel inserts to the one the watch was born with. No exceptions.

Recently purchased a jubilee for my 16710 and the AD [in the USA] didn't require it to be installed. I did return to my AD to have them remove some links, since I couldn't get them to budge on my own. I know the RSC rules vary around the globe.

Was this in the last month and did you already pay for it? My AD initially said they could do it but then after speaking to Rolex HQ, said it was not possible.

I've ordered a Jubilee for my Oyster 126710VTNR back in late September '23.

It's 100% possible - I've seen the email to my SA from Rolex confirming it's ok because it doesn't change the reference number. Additionally I saw people commenting that at Watches and Wonders this year, Rolex communicated it to the press that you can indeed order them.

Chased it numerous times but still nothing yet. My AD says the order is still live on their system and they've chased it themselves, but sadly haven't heard anything as yet, and just expect it to arrive randomly at some point.

This was a few years ago but here is my experience buying direct from Dallas RSC. Not sure if their policy is still the same but it might be worth a call.

I had a 5-digit GMT on oyster serviced at Dallas RSC in March and requested a jubilee add when they sent me the quote. A new quote with the addition was provided within the hour.

Watch came back with the original bracelet tucked away in a service pouch and the watch on a new jubilee. No issue, other than the cost.

Don't know if this holds for the six digits, but for a five digit in March it was a go.

I’m so confused over this, in UK RSC told me it’s only like for like, can’t go oyster to jubilee though …
Then my Rolex AD said they can get one for me, I trade mine plus cash .. tbh I’ve not gone any further with it because I’m down for another GMT on jubilee and will be happy to wait, but in the meantime I’m quite taken with my VTNR on oyster, think it’s really good looking bracelet so I’ll wait happily for the next call …

My UK AD told me initially he had a disagreement with the rep at Rolex UK about it - because at first he was trying to make a bracelet order on something else, and he had an email from them saying "it doesn't change the reference, so it's fine"
Then when investigating the GMT jubilee bracelet order, they said no initially. Then he questioned them about it, because of course, changing the bracelet on the GMT doesn't change the reference number. He challenged them on that, and they conceded by saying "ah yes you're correct - it's fine on GMT's as well then" and was able to physically place the order on his system.

All that said though, it's still not arrived almost 9 months later...

I think we have a better chance understanding the logic of the idolization of the Kardashians than Rolex' Jubilee bracelet nonsense. I keep asking my AD about once a month to see if they can place an order in the system and so far, the answer has been nope.

Rolex shut the door on this very brief idea of ordering a bracelet. There have been very few initially that managed to get an order in at the beginning a few years ago but that is it. Then toward the end of this window Rolex unofficially made the point they didn’t want their customers going from an oyster to a jubilee. This seemed like Rolex was protecting their jubilee bracelets and holding them at a higher exclusivity level??? Who knows but now the best way to get a bracelet is grey market when one trickles in.

I just spoke to RSC NY and they said right now jubliee is on short supply so they can't sell it, but oyster is available for sale. They suggested I check back in a few months.

I was able to get one from my AD without giving back the oyster. But that was in 2021. They may have changed the policy,
