I got this email today. In all honesty, they had me until I got to the size, no way! My 47mm 968 is my absolute max. As I was reading, I was thinking, crap, they got me again. I wonder how many people will pass due to the size?

Shame!

It’s such a technical and engineering flex beyond anything, you can see Panerai is alive and pushing the limits of the industry. Even though this idea isn’t for me, I admire the brand so much in being exciting and not sitting back. Their design language and DNA is unique and identifying.
This new ultra tough titanium “Ti-Ceramitech” might matter to me more in a mainstream model as I love their Carbotech and believe Panerai is always looking to improve their materials.

Very well said! I felt the exact same way. Very exciting to see.

Mystro, agree the material could be interesting. I also love the carbotech I have. As for other aspects of the watch and dive capabilities, I have to compare the DSSD at $12k vs. this for $96k. The Panerai offers improved visibility at 500M. The DSSD offers adequate vis for the job and 3900M. Maybe I need to see one in person, but I just think the price point is insane.

My Pam661 Carbotech has spoiled me over the years on so many levels of being light weight and next level comfortable. I still do not have a mark on it and it has taken a beating. It looks so unique that I may be looking to add another to the collection like a Submersible???

Just read the article posted above in Revolution Watch. It is very impressive technology from the brand. While off the charts expensive, I find this type of progression within the brand much more appealing than some recent collaborations and some of the newer models.

Agree. My carbotech 979 does not show any wear whatsoever even though my most worn watch over the past 4 years. And by far my most comfortable watch even though it’s 47mm.

I love that model and considering adding another Carbotech Submersible.
What size is your wrist??? All my Panerai models in the collection are a 44mm.

Mystro,
Wrist size is about 7.25”. I wish the 979 was 44. That would be ideal. But even at 47 it’s the most comfortable watch I own. Put it in and you forget you’re wearing a watch.
I have thought about your 661 and how comfortable that must be. If only I weren’t so hung up on having a bezel!

My 44mm Pam661 is by far the most comfortable watch I have ever own. It’s stupid light weight and rather thin for its size.

I would guess it will be a very sought after model and may push over msrp. This is not your typical Paneristi model and will appeal to some heavy hitters. It is so out of the box luxury/tech it could go to the moon in value$$$??? I could easily see it featured in film as a hero watch by a high profile action star. We will see.

Hmm, maybe you are on to something here. Never thought of it this way. We should revisit this thread over the next while.

It’s so bizarre and an unknown “X factor” on so many levels I just thought the heavy hitter collectors might be all over this one. Look at RM and their price point???

Like many, this isn't for me due to size and cost.

However, if this is the "concept car" for future models, it would be pretty cool to have a wearable watch with on board mechanical generator powering the lume, at a reasonable cost and size.

First year’s run (50 pieces) is sold out from what I understand. It’s a little engineering marvel.
