Trade - bad deal

16710 Pepsi + 16750 Polar EXP2 trade for a 126710 blnr jubilee brand new. Would you do it or is it a bad deal?

Both ny watches full set and in great condition…

I'll be the first to say I don't know much about older models' trade values. However, I wouldn't do it on the principle of trading two steel watches for another steel watch.

That's the ideal scenario, however...

if that's not possible, then maybe just one of the Pepsi's? You'd be left with the best of both worlds, IMO.

Agreed, two for one just seems like a bad idea from a pure wis point of view

I think one is a Pepsi and one is and explorer. I guess it comes down to trade the one he likes the least if necessary.

I wouldn't do it. I think you'd regret the trade in the long run.

Jeez definitely no, if they’re in good condition they would be worth as much individually as a BLNR, utter madness

Is batgirl jubilee redundant? Hard to keep up with it all.

I don’t know what your local prices are like but in the uk, you’d be giving away about half the polar in value to do the trade.

I suppose that’s the dealer’s margin but I’d much rather have the two you already own - Modern classics and will become harder to find in good condition.

I wouldn't. Maybe trade one of the 5 digits plus cash for the BLNR?

What year are these watches? I would keep one and trade in the other with some cash.

No no no… you’ve got two beautiful classics. The BLNR is a great piece but it’s still in circulation and you can possibly get that at the AD without having to trade both. One of your watches would buy it assuming in good condition etc (definitely the Pepsi, may have to add a bit of cash if you sold the explorer).

Maybe the OP doesn’t want 3 GMT watches?

Trade the Pepsi plus cash, or the polar plus cash. Giving up both is insane!

This is DUMB.

I don’t know what condition the 16710 is in (why not pics?) but unless this
GMT Master II and Explorer are somehow compromised, this is a completely asymmetrical trade.

This appears to be a completely emotional trade. Wait 2 weeks first.

Also - go to an AD that sells certified Rolex. Get what you paid for with your watches and get the BLNR at retail. The trade-in should help your chances.

I say bad deal. 16710 full set in great condition worth ~$12,000. 16750 full set in great condition ~$8,000. Batgirl ~$15,000. I've got both the 16710 and the 16750 and love them both and wouldn't trade either. Wear both and wait for the batgirl and buy it at retail if you have to have it.

I've been casually looking at both of the watches above and concur with that pricing in the US. I agree with maybe trading one plus a reasonable amount of cash or waiting to buy from AD.

It's easy to be dismissive of this trade, but another way to view it is to find out what you'd clear selling them in a private transaction vs what you would clear selling to a dealer, if you have any interest in either. Doubtful you'd get anywhere near the above referenced selling prices through a dealer buying them and you'd probably get less than above for selling privately. So, do the math and compare it to what you could get out the door on a NIB 126710BLNR through a dealer and see if the math works for you. For example, you may come to the reality (depending on how you want to proceed) that you'd only clear between $15k-$17k (we'll say that is worse case). If that puts you in the reasonable cost of a NIB 126710BLNR from a dealer, then so be it. My example is merely hypothetical as you can investigate the real dollars on your own.

If you want the above watches gone and you want the 126710BLNR more, then the threshold for financial pain may lessen in your eyes. Only you can make that determination. Good luck to you.

How is the BLNR worth 12k? Are we talking retail? Also needs to know how much he paid for his 2 watchs. Maybe he got them when the market was bad and paid around 12-15k for both. The more I think about it, it isn’t as far off as i thought, depending on what he paid for them.

Not sure if you’re addressing the $12,000 comment to me specifically or not. Through a dealer that watch would sell for more than $12k. My point was that, like you, this may not be the worst deal in the world. Yes, what he paid or did not pay for those watches factors in and that’s why he needs to do the math. Never said he should not do the deal. I just said that I might do things maybe a little differently, but that would depend on what I had in the watches to begin with on my end. I’d most likely keep both of those watches that he already has. Peace

Thank you all for your input. Should say that there was a typo in the post - 16570 is the EXP 2 ref number....

One five digit model beats one 6 digit model - let alone two five digit models.
