Travelled through Rome and Munich Airport AD and offered watches
Hi folks, as some of you know, I have been traveling with the family. Inbound at the Rome Airport, Rolex AD had a pile of watches on display. She had a 126718GRNR and after a bunch of talk, she offered the watch to me to take. I wasn't prepared for this so I said no. However, most of my trip was delegated to thinking on how to pull the trigger on this beauty. I fell in love with it.
Yesterday, while going through Munich Airport, the Rolex AD also had a boatload of watches for display only. But they had one heavy hitter that just arrived. It was a Platinum Day Date with diamond markers. I asked the gentlemen to try it on and holy smokes, the impression this left was a biggy. After a lot of chit-chat, he said, if you want it, I could buy it.....I told him not a good idea. I told my wife I went to the bathroom and showing up with this is going to be fun to explain....Realistically, I was not prepared to purchase as I have something I am working on for when I get back home to change around in the collection. Anyway, interesting to me is that both Rolex AD has offered me the PM watches on the spot. |

Gray dealer will likely offer these for thousands less than AD.

Good to know I’m sure that Day Date was difficult to walk away from
Now I’m curious what you’re up to with your collection |

Thanks for sharing.
PM and 2T are getting available. I also flew via Munich in July and they had plenty on display… tried on a SS blue dial SkyDweller, the SA then said the Oysterflex full gold version was available for sale. Had it been tax free i would have struggled to walk away… lol (I live in the EU) I really want the blue dial though… so I would have walked away in the end haha In contrast, I also flew through Zurich airport and the Rolex AD there had nothing to show apart from an Explorer 36 and a handfull of DJs… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

My understanding is that Germany and other places in Europe has inventory. Let’s say that it is a place that trusted seller is getting watches.

Sorry Rolex & AD’s, the days of stringing customers along creating “ILLUSIONARY HYPE” are now OVER.
You reap what you sow, and now that the market continues declining you can’t sell these pieces as easily. |

They are never hurting but the “best years they ever had” are behind them now. To hit the profits they hit in 2021, 2022 & even 2023 are behind them now. They just need to adjust to new profits and expectations. Which I’m sure they have. Nobody is hurting though,I agree. And now they will get what they put in themselves. Sales people will be more fatigued, profits are thinner, and stock will sit longer than ever before in last 3 years. These are facts, but sure nobody is hurting.

I was offered the 126619LB and the 126719blro at two different ADs in Antwerp a few months back. The fact that these are PMs seems to indicate that they are harder to move (and are selling for less than retail in the second-hand market).
I took the sub so had a tough time walking away from the BLRO, but I did end up falling in love with the heft of the white-gold sub!

Like many have said, these are not rare pieces because they sell below MSRP on grey. This, to me, is the kind of piece you buy (when you really want it) to build a spend history with a local AD, that way you get what you want and get set up (hopefully) for consideration for other incoming models.

Primary AD sales are still healthy. However more people are now feeling disgusted with the idea of buying something they don’t desire in order to be considered for certain watches. Most has chosen not to play the AD games anymore

Thanks for letting us know. I’ll be going through Munich airport in the coming weeks. I’ll have to give it a shot.

It was a 40mm. What an impression it made on me. It was so shiny, the bracelet the bezel and the diamond hour markers made it an impressionable piece. The ice blue dial of course sets it apart. But it was the brightness of the platinum that was spectacular. I have a few WG pieces and this is incredibly bright. No comparison.

Interesting, he said that at the beginning. After about ten minutes of chatting, he said he could make a call and see if I wanted to buy it, I could. I guess he just wanted to feel appreciated lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Still not easy to get watches in Europe, you might be lucky but still only datejusts with funny combinations or solid gold models
