Domed to fluted bezel

Hi all,

Recently purchased a 116200 which i am now looking to swap the bezel from domed to fluted. I am already aware that it will change the reference number but I can swap back the bezel if need be when it’s due in for a service.
My question is will an aftermarket white gold one fit just as well as an official one or do I need to look harder because I’m already struggling to find one as it is. Is this an easy process a decent watchmaker can do for me with the right tools without scratching the case?
Thanks

Watchworks Bristol could be worth a conversation.

I’m not sure who in the UK would be the independent, but an independent watch repair shop with a Rolex parts account should be able to both source and fit it.

No independents anywhere in the world have Rolex parts accounts.

That must be new… mine did for years. Haven’t sent it his way in some time though.

I knew they cut down but hadn’t heard it was cutoff

As you have found, sourcing that fluted bezel is the greater challenge.

Check with some of the shops who put on diamond bezels; they need to take off the old one to fit them and may have one available.

Since the fluted are gold, they aren't cheap anymore.

Aftermarket sometimes you get lucky, but that is not the majority of times.

Have a chat with Steven Hale, they’re an accredited service centre and have a parts account. Rolex actually send a lot of vintage work their way.

I found an authentic bezel on eBay. It was about $1000. It wasn’t easy. I ended up retuning it as my dad didn’t want to modify his DJ41 after all. These bezels are so perfect and precise. I can’t believe you will be able to find an aftermarket that looks decent. The steel ones look terrible too.
