"The Fall of Rolex !!! What went wrong? (Video)

I just watched this video report on The Fall of Rolex or What Went Wrong. It is an interesting perspective and I really didn't see much there that would be hard to disagree with. What say you?

I didn't open the hyperlink, but....

As I type this, I just finished reading an incoming post where a TRF member just got his 124060 "no date" today after a five year wait. A no date stainless diver. Five years. I wish I had a business that was falling like Rolex.

I couldn’t open the link. But I understand the frustration, here and there, about Rolex availability.
But this train is not going to stop, nor falling down. Some wishes don’t come true.

Open the link, then hit the skip button. It will bypass the advertisement before the video starts.

For those about to not to click on an addtional link:

My thoughts about this... mother... person:

The problem is that he confuses the season with the style. The question is not how much a manufacturer nominally produces, but how much demand there is for its products?

If we look at it from this point of view, those brands are the losers that he prefers, since they are not worth as much as they want to sell them. This is also why those who buy them "complain" that their watches become worthless, because they are sold in such a large number for the sake of profit.

Compared to this, in the case of Rolex, it can be seen that they could sell their current models at double the price, with double the profit, and even if it doubled its production, it would not satisfy the needs. It follows that no matter what he says, people will not rush to the store for watches that they can buy whenever they want, but in return no one in the world cares. They want a Rolex, because it is STILL a hard to get.

From here on, the rest of his stupidity is probably not worth detailing, because it's been a long time since I've come across such malicious and preconceived bullshit.

What's Walmart have to do with this topic?

Most all YouTube today nothing more than clickbait, and if some believe everything they see or read there then they must have lost the use of there brain to think for themselves.

Funny. I love Walmart. My wife does too. Maybe not as much as Costco, but it's a stop on our weekly shopping.

Rolex on the other hand has lost my business. Their strategy is great for AD's but bad for buyers. Pushing customers to the gray market to overspend on a watch, or promoting years long waiting lists doesn't work for me.

Keep in mind nowadays, YT and social media content is totally biased and created to lure people in. It's all about subscritions and "views" in order to get paid from these platforms.

I don't care about other people's opinion on Rolex (or any brand). I buy what I like and that will never change. I mean YT is full of people blasting Panerai and I bought one earlier this year and I wear it more than my sub date.

And Rolex is just a watch manufactuer...they don't control the watch market. They still make over million watches a year...FAR MORE than Omega. But its same social media platform that created this bull crap about "rolex investments" etc.

5 years ago, no one really cared about Rolex like today. ADs had datejusts in stock and sub were only a few weeks wait. I still remember getting 3% discount from ADs.

Social media is poison in todays society. Like they say.....opinions are like armpits...everyone has one but some stink and some dont :).

Social media create hype and demand. One of the reasons of such quick demand for Rolex (AP, PP and even Tudor…) after COVID were exactly the social media. If they can boost sales volume and profit at the end, they could hardly be called “poison”. Just another marketing instrument which wise business should use for earning more.

I didn’t bother to open your link, but if this is a fall, I’m sure most businesses would be pleased.

I avoid click-bait.

Plus Rolex has record sales, is opening up another production facility, and needs more watchmakers. Tho what's really great is that Rolex supports more sporting events and human endeavors than any other timepiece manufacturer.

I think you’re meant to view the ‘feather ruffling part II’ video as well, where they talk about everything that’s good about Rolex.

It’s kind of trolling but they give both sides.

I mean if you like Rolex and can afford it, buy one. Don’t like Rolex, don’t buy it. Like Rolex and can’t get one, get another brand or switch hobbies. All this complaining about Rolex availability is old. Plus timing of this is weird as availability is getting better.

I didn't watch the video and don't care to, but.....

I did just return from a tech conference in Vegas and saw tons of Rolex on the wrists of attendees. I spotted many datejusts, many subs, and a surprising number of polar explorer 2's

I saw more apple watches than anything, but if someone wore a traditional watch, it was usually a Rolex.

I saw some Omega

I saw exactly 2 Royal Oak

I saw 0 Patek

Kinda makes me want a Patek
