Incoming Monochrome

I've been down for a lot of the year with a foot injury/surgery and long recovery. I was offered a Tudor Black Bay monochrome by my SA when it first came out, but couldn't go to look at it and or collect it.

I'm much better now. And yesterday I had a chance to swing by the closest AD. They had the one I wanted! I like the 3 link bracelet for this watch. It looks right.. keeps the shine to a minimum. (I'll leave the jubilee for the DJs). No polished center on the clasp.

But the watch itself is great for my 7.5" wrist. Aluminum, not too wide bezel. And that dial has a slight hint of the sunray finish the P39 and BB54 have that I really liked. It looks so great without any gold touches to the dial. Nice sized crown.

I've gone through plenty of dive watches, but this one is the best I've owned.

Congrats and excellent choice! I agree with you that this variation is the one to have and it's on my radar as a possibility to add some day too. Enjoy!

Watch a couple YouTube videos. The case sides have been slimmed down. Part of the height is the domed crystal, which I love, that a lot of dive watches don't have.

I didn't like the older bb watches. Completely different watch.

I wonder what Rolex management would say if their Tudor colleagues asked if they could ditch the riveted endplate, and switch to the same oyster look.

At least they provide the 5-link bracelet option or a rubber strap with end links option. Nice to have choices. Another thing Rolex could stand to loosen up on.

I went with the 5-link and love it. Would have been much tougher decision to make if the oyster didn’t have the fake rivot end plates.

Only wish I would have for the BB 41mm lineup would be ceramic bezel inserts. I like the aluminum and all but would appreciate ceramic a bit more. I think they want to differentiate the BB vs the Sub so they keep it aluminum.

I would have no interest in the Black Bay line if they foisted those awful shiny ceramic bezels on it.

Thanks for the nice comments! I'm really enjoying it today!

Another nice thing is how absolutely nice and smooth the crown operates. As nice or nicer than any watch I've owned.

I really think this is the closest thing you are going to find to a modern 5 digit Sub!

Very well executed.

Like we know, it’s hard to scratch a Rolex itch with something else, but this is a heck of an option for those not quite ready to afford a 124060 or unwilling to wait for one.

A couple of years ago I was on a list for a 124060. But the more I looked at the Sub, I realized I didn't like the gloss dial and gloss ceramic bezel combo. And that I really like the warmth of the aluminum bezel. Then this watch was introduced. It really interested me. Really solid watch for me.

Congrats, I love the simplicity of it.
Also not a fan of the faux rivet bracelet but it is nice that they offer options.
