Another Pepsi not available story

Thought I’d pop into the local AD dealer today as haven’t been since picking up an explorer ii in around May.

Long story short my charming SA popped me onto list for a 126710BLRO in May. Said hello again today and had cup of coffee and a chat. My purchase history isn’t vast from this store- although it would be if things were a bit easier. DJ41 in 2018, a couple of Tags back 10-15 plus y ago, the exp ii this year. That’s about it.

Anyway he persuaded me to go on the list for a BLNR as well as “the Pepsi is extremely unlikely”. Story being the bezel is hard to produce consistently which we’ve all heard. Not sure what I believe about it but didn’t seem to be a problem until maybe a year or so ago…

Anyway, had a nice chat and tried on the two tone GRNR - Better in the flesh than pictures, a sky dweller and the Tudor metas burgundy on 5 link. Bracelet was superb. If they release that on a Pepsi bbgmt that’s a smidge slimmer or even in the fifty eight case I’m in but I guess we all k so they won’t…! Close but no cigar as often seems

Pic 4 is what I’m currently wearing.
to be the case with Tudor.

Hi Mark thanks for sharing the pics of your visit! At least your SA was honest with you that you’re not getting a BLRO and moved you to the interest pool of a GMT you have a shot at. Better than stringing you along at least in my book

Agreed. I rather the SA be upfront and put me on a q that i actually have a chance to get in a reasonable timeframe.

Thanks for sharing Mark

I’m not sure what to make of the BLRO bezel issue (if in fact there even is one) I personally think that it’s overstated but who knows.

One question I keep asking myself is what happens to a current owner say if they damage their bezel and it has to go off to RSC for replacement? Do they have stock of replacement bezels on hand, or do you wait till RSC gets another one from the mothership and if so, how long does this take?

I completely agree. I think they fire thousands and thousands at a time and then lay dormant. That would explain the anecdotes about not seeing many etc. I don’t necessarily buy the it’s a problem to produce thread. I think there’s pretty much as many as blnr on average per year but waiting no list deeper. There’s plenty on the secondary market…

AD wasn'st lying.....even high volume stores barely see any pepsi in flesh and when they do, its always the store mgr that will allocate it and most of the time, it goes to a VIP client ($100k+ spend history).

I also have a good rep/AD ...gave me my sub date in only 7 weeks with zero purchase. I then bought some diamond earing for wife afterwards since we were in the area.

Will be purchasing a Cartier from them next yaer for my wife's 45th.
But I want gmt and my rep was honest enough to tell me the last pepsi she saw was back in April ...and they are not even putting on the waitlist as its over 40 people and they dont even have a time frame.

Told me she can get me BLNR (blue bezel gmt) in about a year...they get more stock but again, lots of VIP customers on the list and I'm faaaaar below but since my 50th is coming up next year, she said she'll try her best to make it happen...I told her I'm open to the bracelet so fingers crossed.

But yeah, if u want pepsi, I'd just go grey and enjoy it in this lifetime......Same goes for daytona....unless u are a VIP, u ain't getting one anytime soon.

Close but no cigar is the arena in which Tudor thrives.

If they gave you a cigar, it runs the risk of cannibalizing Rolex sales. They need to scratch the itch of feeling the need to buy an awesome watch, but leave enough itch to continue to want for more.

Tudor has been a poster child of doing things right the last 10 years or so. They actually deliver what most people clamor for, while still leaving them wanting for just a little more.

Pretty much agree. But since Pepsi/coke, sub, Daytona etc are still the hard ones would make sense to at least slim down. No need for a bb gmt to be so thick. Bb pro… arguably bb chrono. If they went harder would be a gen threat to omega imho.

I picked up a Batgirl from my AD today, and he told me that a Daytona is easier to get now than a Pepsi, for what its worth.

I got a BLRO a few years ago from my AD. I asked my SA for a Daytona for my 50th Bday in February’25. He looked at me as if I have had cursed at him! He said that a decision for the owner in a somber tone.

Don’t wait for the AD’s call on this one. I got my SS Daytona call after many years but still waiting on this one. Let that sink in. So I went ahead and bought this on from the AD but as a 3 year old CPO at premium. Every penny worth as it is already on my wrist

The BLNR and GRNR must have looked great on your wrist. That Tudor Metas Burgundy on 5 link bracelet sounds like a winner too!

Trying on the two-tone GRNR and the Tudor must’ve been a treat.

I don't blame anyone who makes that decision, but I just can't bring myself to pay about twice MSRP. My AD told me that I should have my Daytona in one to two years. If that happens, fine, if not I can live with my Speedy Pro. That's just my opinion.

I waited 3 years (decent spend history, $50k ish) and my local, family owned, AD lost their Rolex contract so I immediately went grey. Should have done it sooner.

Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten

BLRO has been my daily for over 3 years now and I can confirm the sting from the grey aquisition has not hurt for a long time!

Yep ^^^

Justify the purchase at a price you’re comfortable with and have it tomorrow or wait for the AD to deliver.

If the BLRO is indeed less available than SS Daytonas now as I have been reading, then it's by design by Rolex IMO. Some may recall the communication received by dealers back around the end of 2018 that Rolex was planning on cutting back on production of SS professional series models over Rolesor and PM Classic models going forward. I recall seeing the letter that was sent to the ADs. They did this to inform ADs that they would be seeing less sport models being produced. They clearly took a page out of the SS Daytona playbook and were extending it to other sport references. Then the pandemic hit, and the rest is history. Talk about timing being lucky!! If we are seeing fewer Pepsi's then it's on purpose.

Could see it go exclusively to white gold in the future too

I think it could be about difficulty to produce the bezel; the more they sell, the more spare bezels they need in reserve for service purposes but in this instance, vice versa. Just one theory..

The real question here is who is the AD getting the information from?

You can get a panda easier than a Pepsi? WHAT!?!

Makes zero sense.

My AD told me that since early summer they have gotten about ten times as many SS Daytonas as BLROs. They don't get more SS Daytonas than before, just a lot less BLROs. They get shipments at least once a week and the only information they have is what they actually get every week. Nothing from Rolex about it.

That BB is a bit tasty.

My AD tells me that BLRO inserts have for some reason become very difficult to get past QC. It's all a bit vague. It could be more a case of what they heard rather than what they were told.
