34mm RO Ceramic for a male
Anyone out there who has a, or thinks the, black ceramic 34mm Royal Oak is a suitable watch for an almost 7 inch wrist male? Anyone tried one on and decided it’s too small but otherwise love it?

My wife has it. I have a 6.5 inch wrist, and it is really too small for most men IMHO.
For context, I do have a 34mm JLC Master Ultra Thin in my collection and that size works for me, but a RO in 34 just doesn’t work. |

Thanks for the feedback, is it the narrow bracelet that makes it less suitable than the JLC or the smaller dial from the thicker bezel? Or both?

One is a vintage style dress watch where the size feels appropriate, plus it has a silver dial. The other is a sports watch and black, and just looks tiny. As a reference, 39mm is the sweet spot for a RO on my wrist. Here are pics hopefully that helps. |

34mm is way too small for normal sized male wrists. Close up pics like above on wrists always make a watch look bigger than it is and is not indicative of real life viewing ranges. I have 6.5 inch wrist and even found the 37mm too small. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

JLC looks better because the dial is bigger. RO dial is too small.

Much too small. Can't try my wife's b/c I can't the resized bracelet over my hand, but on a 7" wrist it will look tiny.

Around 7". I don't think it would fit, but didn't get a chance to try.

They’ve done ceramic bracelets on a multitude of ROs so don’t see the issue there

I’d love a 39mm AP ceramic as well, as I find the 41mm just a bit too massive, here it is on my wrist while doing the AP manufacture tour in Le Brassus last year. I much prefer the 39mm size of my 16202. Don’t see that happening anytime soon though. |

My thinking with the 34 is to see it kind of as a 36 Explorer when they were popular with average, even above average, wristed men. More bracelet wrap visible and relatively a smaller case. |

My wife has the 34m CE. It's way too small for men IMO.

My wrist is a little over 6.5" and I've made a 34mm Rolex OP work just fine. Consider the irregular case shape of the RO and integrated bracelet, I think it would be just fine, as long as you like the look of smaller watches. Nothing wrong with that.

Thanks for your input
Thanks for the feedback, certainly it will be a smaller look and I agree that the case shape of the RO maintains its presence in smaller sizes. I’ve tried older 36mm and they couldn’t accurately be described as small/dainty. |

34mm RO Ceramic for a male
I have a 7 inch wrist and I own and prefer the 37mm 15550 to the 41mm 15510.
I own a modern 36mm explorer so I certainly can appreciate smaller watches with more classically sized / smaller wrist presence. ( where you see more bracelet on top of the arm as well as the watch head ) That being said the smaller 37mm Three hand royal oak with a black 15450 or dark blue 15550 dial felt too small for me on my wrist ( smaller dial aperture contrasted against the bezel made watch feel too small ) Only the grey dialed version with less contrast between the case and the dial didn’t feel too “dial small”. The dark blue presents smaller on wrist based on pictures and in person IMO. The all black ceramic case and bracelet in 34mm looks to blend into the black dial so that may allow it to wear larger than a SS case with a black dial…… but even I think 34mm will likely feel and look too small for an almost 7 inch wrist on a man. If you look down at your own wrist and love the small size ( if you are able to try on in person ) then go for it, but to anyone else looking at you from further away it’s likely to look rather small ( probably “too small” IMO ) I suspect going forward trends will shrink watch sizes and taste a little as manufactures look to make sizes for all wrists and tastes. There will always be a segment of the population happy to wear tiny watch’s as an expression of taste ( seeing this right now in high fashion circles where some men are wearing very small vintage pieces ) and there will always be a larger percentage of the watch buying public looking to wear the largest watch that they can get away with. Most of the male watch buying public will continue to gravitate to 40mm sizing. If the market continues to cool for luxury watches I’d expect manufacturers to offer up additional sizes to keep selling new watches so maybe a 37mm ceramic case and bracelet will be in the pipeline. That music addition certainly would look fantastic with a full ceramic bracelet and there didn’t seem to be a shortage of people looking to buy those in 37mm ..Explorer, Spring Diver & APRO.. |

It’s possible that an all black on bracelet will read larger, with a uniform and perhaps somewhat rugged look. You’re so right about these high fashion types, I know a young man who just bought an older Raymond Weil ladies bracelet watch and he certainly has his finger on the pulse of fashion. I’ve also seen a few burly fashion types hanging out with similar styles. A 37mm music on bracelet, yes that would be nice. |

I really think it would be too small. I have a 7 inch wrist and the jumbo is ideal for me, I have tried on the 36mm older royal oaks and they were borderline as well as the 37mm modern version, they wore more like dress watches, but the 34mm would absolutely be too small. For the record, I wear 34mm normal round vintage watches no issue. For Royal Oaks I believe for men they should be 36-41mm.
