Where do you guys look?

I'd like to find a GMT Master (16750 or 16700) in good, doesn't have to be great, condition that will be a watch I intend to wear on a semi-regular basis.

I'm reasonably knowledgeable but nowhere close to being an expert, most of my watch buying experience is with more modern watches that have fewer potential pitfalls.

I'm struggling to find places to search to find the right watch to fit my needs and I was curious if some of you could share your process for seeking out watches like this that are findable but take a little effort to make sure you are getting a good/reasonable version.

I wasn't seeking--it found me. Circa 1984 16750. I purchased it out of an estate after seeing it at the estate sale. I went there looking for other things for my fishing lure collection.

I’d love to see some of your collection!! I started a thread a while back “anyone collect old fishing lures?” Check it out and feel free to add some of your collection. Now is a great time to get into collecting fishing lures as they’re so much cheaper than 20-25 yrs ago.

Well MrGoat, all though your request is appreciated. I'm afraid it comes too late. I started selling off my lures about five years ago and I don't have many left. It was fun in the beginning. Good luck with yours.

Dang, that’s sucks!! Thanks for the well wishes though. Still feel free to chime into my thread if you’re interested in talking lures. I’ve got a few that are quite unique.

Yeah, me too, I'd like a nice 1016 at a good price. Also, a 6536, a 1019, and a 1655. At good prices. :eyeroll:

Anyone else? Maybe there should be a specific forum for want-to-buy threads...

I bought my last watch from a forum member and couldn’t be happier.

Springer is the GMT connect. There isn’t a lot of markup on vintage watches, I would rather pay more for a nice watch vs roll the dice blind.

I’ve rolled the dice on EBay but I had forum members verify before doing so.

Here is my last watch I bought from a forum member, often guys here are wanting to sell things but don’t always make a listing for them. More of a word of mouth type system.
