Where does Glashutte Original rank?

Taking into consideration reliability, history, movement etc, how would you rate Glashutte? On par with Rolex? Higher or lower?

Yep, definitely a bit higher, but the re-sale is so-so (in US, but in Europe is excellent!)

I am obsessed with the GO Sports Evo Perp Calendar for some reason.

See, I am a sports watch junkie and having a sports watch with those complications fascinates me yet at the same time its kind of a catch 22 as you would think those complications add to the potential issues with the watches working from use/abuse...

GO is really art when you look at their dials and workings.

The GMT is amazing in how you set it with the buttons on the side, the Navigator is very cool with its timer feature just lots of great things going on with GO oh yea and lets not forget how the bracelet adjusts, it even makes the DSSD Glide Lock look like an antique.

There are dozens of watch brands that sell watches at $15000 and more.
After losing money in this economy, I'd prefer to buy things that are somewhat economy-proof. Patek, Rolex, and Panerai can be reliably resold down the road w/o much loss.

for those criteria (reliability, history and movement) i would give rolex the edge. rolex history vs. go? no brainer! reliability? if i was an explorer and my life depended on a timepiece i'd choose a rolex over a go. movement? both in house - the go is nicely decorated, the rolex is purposefully finished - but if the job of the movement is to keep moving - i'd have more faith in the rolex (plus rolex has the better SAV).

GO, has a long way to go. Its an ideal choice if are a looking for a timepiece through watchmaker's perspective... Also, its a timepiece offered at a very good reasonable price point!! Just an annual production of 7800 pieces hand crafted. Trust me... GO has a long way to go. I vote for it in a long run they will gain the Status what they are worth.

They are extremely well made watches. They have them in many different price points, materials, complications, etc. I would own one in a heart beat and have my eye on their perpetual calendar. They have a new line that is a highly shock resistant sport watch. I would not hesitate to buy one and be proud to have it in my collection.

I don't know why when someone asks about watches, the conversation immediately turns to resale value. These are watches not bonds!

I would rank GO above rolex, due to the much higher levels of craftsmanship. The tourbillons, the porcelain Seantors, etc.

Best bet is always buying lovingly previously worn and you avoid the price drop that happens when you buy most thing and walk out the door.... Cars are a perfect example.

I'm actually looking at a Glashutte Lady Serenade for my wife. Either rose gold or stainless steel model with mother of pearl dial. It will be her everyday watch. Hopefully they can also provide a stainless steel bracelet.

Prices are very reasonable.

I believe that, overall, GO is a superior product to Rolex. I myself am saving up to buy the Glashuette Original Senator Meissen.
