Is this really bling looking?

A lot of you guys say that my SS Daytona is "bling bling" looking with its polished case and center links. What do you guys think of this?


Yes this is a contender for my next purchase.





Doesnt really matter which MC model (as I havent decided Chrono or Memovox) but it will be on bracelet.


Is it blingy?

Both are faves of mine, but i prefer them both on a strap.

I second Johns feelings above. My favorite is the Memovox on the brown strap, but a little too blingy for me On a bracelet, yes, I think it's very blingy

The beauty is if you buy it on bracelet they wont mind throwing in a strap. you buy it on a strap... I doubt they will throw in a bracelet lol

Both nice, Roger, but I agree with the others, a strap is less blingy, as in this one:

Go for the second one. The first one, at a glance for non WIS, is too similar to your black Daytona.
Insist on a nice brown gator.
Maybe I can convince you to pick up a Panerai.

No need to convince me as I already want one, but I dont want one more than I want a MC....yet.


Besides, when you have been a Watch enthusiast as long as I have (since I was 12 y/o) its hard for ppl to convince me about my purchases any more. Heck I still love the most hated brand in the WIS world

I don't think the Jaeger LeCoultre is "blingy" at all--which is a description I usually reserve for watches that have diamonds, etc.

If you wind up purchasing the JLC, I am sure you will enjoy it because they make very fine watches and they also tend to charge less for the level of quality they provide than some of the other elite brands. Should you decide to buy it, I hope you will give us a full report after you've had some time to experience the quality of a JLC timepeace.

Well I have been in the car performance biz for so long that I use it in the old school sense. Something that is shiney and flashy (started with chromo wheels in the car biz) so the reason I asked if this was blingy was for the case and bracelet.


I havent owned a JLC since I was about 20, and it was a 36mm dress watch and not a sport watch so I am sure if/when I do get a MC Memo or MC Chrono it will be a diff feeling

Having an e after a vowel in germanic languages usually denotes that the preceding vowel should be pronounced with an umluat (two little dots above it). So, I guess Jaeger shuold be Yeah-ger. But, if you side with the French I guess you may pronounce the J as a J.
And if I remeber correctly....vowels at the end of words are pronounced, so LeCoultre may sound something like leh-cooltreh. It should be a very subtle, soft 'e' at the end.

It's tricky, being Swiss brands, the language usually follow the usual way of the Swiss - not adhering to anything .
The difference in pronounciation in dialects from the various areas of switzerland is rather noticeable, it really depends where you are. Their written language is German, but when it comes to names and so forth, it's anybody's guess. Antoine LeCoultre started his work in the Vallee de Joux, which is in the French part of Switzerland. Joux is pronounced with a soft, rolling J, as in...well, valJOUX. But, the region that the Vallee de Joux is in, the Jura, region, we pronounce as Yuo-ra. Go figure

So...well....ummm... I dunno, I usually just say JLC.

Like others - I agree that is a great watch, but on the strap. I'm a little disappointed with the bracelet that watch comes on........Nice, but not JLC $10k nice.

I think the GMT bracelet is nicer than the chrono bracelet.

But, it's a great watch and I would love to have one no matter what it was on.

You have the options down quite well Otis. LeCoultre is exactly as you state above, but the Jaeger was always the tricky one for me.

I always pronounced it as "Yeah-ger" until I saw the presentation on their web site......I would think this would end the debate since it's on their site:
