I have lots of seiko watches from $50 to $250. When I do hold my Rolex Sub next to any seiko, there is definitely a clear cut difference in craftsmanship between the two watches. Yeah, some of my watches are close to 200g in weight and feel substantially heavier than the SUB or the SD BUT that quality of Rolex is clearly not there in them.

The sharp machined edges give the SUB and SD a very tool like/ precision instrument like look and feel ... although the seikos are more massive, they seem like toys infront of the Rolexes ....Even the mirror finish on the seikos looks differnt and cheesier than that on the Rolex ....

I am not trying to start a fight here over rolex and seiko but I do see that a Rolex dive watch is built differently than a $100 or $200 watch ...

You're kidding!!!!!!! You really think there's a difference between a $200 watch and a $6,000 watch??? What an amazing revelation!!!!!!! I'm sure all will be shocked by your discovery

actually, until you get to look at one up close, someone might not understand how a Submariner might differ in the details versus a Seiko diver. There are plenty who would argue that the invicta pro diver is just as good. I think the poster was just saying that when you compare a Rolex to a watch that LOOKS similar, there is something about the Rolex that oozes quality. That is as it should be, but sometimes it takes seeing to believe.

I definitely prefer to wear Rolex myself, however I used to have a Seiko and they are perfectly fine watches and in terms of watch per dollar IMO I would have to say Seiko is a better value for anyone looking at it that way.

In the case of the Seiko Diver vs. Sub, that's a price difference of 15x (current US MSRP $6,000 versus $400) and the Sub is a lot nicer, but I don't personally think it's 15 times nicer.

Interesting the price differences in great vs. good watches are so much higher than in other items, in terms of percentages (a Porsche is not 15x the cost of an average car). Of course watches are cheaper than cars etc. so when looked at in absolute dollars (the Sub is $5,600 more than the Seiko) the difference looks more reasonable.

I have three Seiko watches. I've always been fascinated by their technology. Nonetheless, my everyday watch is my TT DJ 16013. I love the TT look and only the Rolex TT looks so right in TT. Seiko watches look good in SS, but their TT and YG models are cheap looking. I really admire Seiko technology, but they're not close to a Rolex in timeless design and feel, especially in TT. For me there's no bracelet even close in appearance to a TT Jubilee, not even the YG President's. That's just my

I couldn't agree more. I catch myself staring at the fine lines and "crispness" of my LV all the time. Sometimes when I am driving and the sun hits it just right I.....................................well it is just a wonder I haven't gotten in a wreck yet

no doubt a difference.. between my invicta prodiver and rolex sub nodate is very obvious once you handle them. the prodiver is really a nice timepiece but not at the level of rolex. and to me there is that "aura" around rolex.. sorry, i know it sounds silly but for me there is such a thing..

Well in terms of craftsmanship there is a difference , you can realy feel what a 10000 dollar watch feels like compared to a 100 seiko, i love seiko i have several other all gold models but you see the crisp and robust feel of a rolex , plus it's a statement that you have arrived....

I like these two MM300, the fit and finish is nice, I am working on getting a spring drive MM600, hopefully with in 30 days.

Those are some great looking divers.

I'm going to pick up a Seiko diver at some point. Very robust watches, with great dials.

Different watches for different niches. It'd be like saying a Mercedes SL is better built than a Toyota Corolla. I like both cars (yeah, that's right, I enjoyed driving my Corolla when I had it), but they're completely different price ranges and niches of the market.

Also, there are some Seikos (some of the Spring Drive models) that I would argue rival the quality of Rolex, both in in-house movement and in finish/build quality.

I love when I get caught staring down at my watch, when I bring my gaze back up to eye level and see that others saw me staring at it I just kinda play it off like there was a smudge on the crystal.....

Between the cheaper seikos and the expensive swiss divers? Um, yeah, I'm going to have to agree with you. Mostly.

My Seiko divers are about 25 seconds fast per day and the day/date gradually changes over the course of about 4 hours!!!

I think the bracelet on my Seiko Orange Monster is better than the bracelet on the Sub, though. Seriously.
