Magnetized?

Hi folks,

I have been doing some reading on magnetizism. My 5402 has been gaining and loosing a minute or two a multiple day. Wondering if it is related to magnetism?

I does not consistently gain or loose. Sometimes it'll be fast by s couple minutes and then back to original time. Previously it was tracking about 20 seconds slow a day.

I have a call into Clearwater to get it serviced and it was serviced a couple years ago by an authorized center. So it should be covered under warranty but just curious if it needs a simple demagnetizing.

I had a watch that got magnetized and its results were consistently off. Any watch retailer should be able to tell you if it is magnetized, and if so, demagnetize it for free in no time at all. Good luck.

I have had 2 watches get magnetized in the past. Most recently, my 15500ST.

They both went from being off just a couple of seconds per day to around +20 spd. But it was a consistent +20spd.

It would not hurt for you to first try and demagnetize it before sending it in. But if there is that much variance in the gain/loss, I suspect it might be another issue.
Also, a magnetized watch usually runs fast and not slow.

If magnetized never heard of it slowing down only speeding up. I have two small compasses I keep and can tell if magnetized. I also have a demagnetizer and if I think it is affected it takes a minute to demagnetize

Genius! I have a 15202 that runs fast. I tried the compass trick and looks like it’s magnetized.

Almost exactly the same with my ceramic diver. It started going +20 sec per day, a quick de-mag and it was back to normal again.

Seems to be back to normal, I'm in New York for a longer layover so may pop in AP and get it checked out
