Been offered a new exp 2 polar?

I’m on the waiting list with many others for a gmt batman, my new A/D has contacted me ( my usual dealer has had rolex taken of them so all watches I bought through them now out the window with my new dealer) my question is I can buy this watch at retail £6,250, it’s not the watch I want, do I buy it just to please dealer and show I’m a serious buyer? Or leave it, I would need to sell it on as this is my Gmt money, would I get my money back? Make a profit? Or lose money? By buying this it might not get my anywhere up the gmt ladder, but it might? What should I do?

You can buy it i think and flip it for same price you got it... Especially if the price indeed goes up in jan..

It's not the watch you want. If you do buy it, you won't get what you paid for it, if/when you sell it to replenish your GMT fund. I've had two Polars, and liked them a lot, I had a 6 digit GMT LN, but I prefer the 5 digit GMTs better.

Thanks I’m thinking buy it as it’s there, I mean this must be sought after sports model? As long as I can get my money back I’m happy it’s all about building a rapor with my new dealer and to show I’m serious about a batman, so I think as long as I break even I have to buy it.

Don't play this game. If you don't like it- don't buy it - you'll only regret it later and every time its on your wrist you'll wish you had the other ref you really wanted. Plus, someone else who actually wants the polar will miss out

Do you have a plan on who your intended market is once you buy this watch to resell? Or which platform to sell on? A preowned seller will not pay you what you paid for that watch. Will people trust buying from you without a transaction history on a site like this? Platforms like eBay charge tax, and collect 10% of the selling fee. Why would someone buy it from you when there are trusted sellers selling mint EXPii references for less than MSRP. How long are you willing to sit on this watch to make close what you paid for it. What if a GMT gets offered to you and you haven’t sold this EXPii.

Doubt you’ll get your money back. I bought one for £5750 6 months old from A grey in London last Feb, height of the madness?. Imagine what he paid for it! Love The watch and it’s definitely a keeper

Why would someone buy it from you with no history of selling or being reputable seller when they can buy the same watch from AD? Remember if the AD is offering you, they are offering to other people meaning there are plenty exp iis to go around

While it may seem unreal, this is the buying environment we are in. I would have thought it was crazy to buy a watch just to please an authorized dealer. But, things sure are different these days. Crazy times.

Most will disagree to buy just to climb the AD ladder, me included. I never had to as I was never after a super hot piece during shortage times. My AD offered me my Blnr, but yes after a few purchases last year without me even asking about one. Anyway it's your business how you handle your AD relations. Check pre-owned prices on C/24 and TRF for market pricing. Another word of caution, If you buy a new Polar you may not be able to let it go. I thought about it before and I dont think I could ever turn mine loose..
BTW; My AD knows I'm a keeper, not a flipper but mentioned if I sell my Blnr please don't put it online..

You might also talk with the authorized dealer. I wonder if this might actually move you lower on the list to get a GMT then to move you up the list. It could be seen that the dealer is giving you a consolation prize, and selling you a stainless steel sports watch, even though it is not the one that you wanted. Therefore he / she may think that they supplied you with a watch and move you down the list on the GMT.

If you are buying a tt ladies datejust or a hard move item, I could see this as being a favor to the dealer.

Don’t buy and flip. It could sour your AD relationship and risk your BLNR.
