Need help new here.

I came across this watch a little while ago and I am wondering if it is a fake. I have the feeling it is though I am not too worried about it if it is. The price was right. I have taken it to a jewelers who wasnt too sure on it. any opinions please? and if it is a fake can I have any info on what makes it say fake so I know in the future. Thanx I am new to all this here to learn something new.

From my amateur view, the minute hand is supposed to be longer touching the end of the stick while not covering the lume on the minute marker.

nowadays with the new Rolex Rep, even a jeweler can hardly tell. I suggest you bring it to a Rolex AD.

I myself new to the fourm and Rolex.

The lettering on the clasp looks off center and not lined up straight. It dosn't look right to me, but someone will come along shortly and give more info. These guys and gals are pretty good.

...additionally, if it is a vintage DJ, then the case back SHOULD HAVE stampings on it, which I do NOT see.

...take the watch back to the jeweler and ask him to remove the band. There should be numbers on both ends of the watch case and let us know what they are. Likewise, there may be a wording alsostamped above the numbers.

...so far what I have seen, I would say this is a counterfeit.

thank you so much for the info. I metal detect for a hobby and it was one of my finds. Thats what my feeling on it was to " Fake" Anyhow I got me a new watch lol.

ya i think so I love the hobby. I do want to learn about watches though. I feel it will go good with my hobby knowing what is what when I find it so I dont have to bother you fine folks on here with garbage. You all are very knowledgable (SP?) and I am grateful for the help.

The crown's not lined up perfectly with at the 12 o'clock mark either. Enjoy your find though.

Stan, assuming your speaking on the bracelet, I have to disagree with this statement. Those two words mean two totally different things.

In this case, it's a counterfeit bracelet, because it says Rolex on it and isn't, therefore copyright infringement and counterfeit.

Had it not said Rolex, it would be aftermarket, but not counterfeit.

The date window looks off centre.

I see the little hooks in one of your pictures of how the bracelet connects to the case. I am not 100% sure but I feel this is common for fakes as I understand it Rolex bracelets connect clean to the case or what is commonly called a flush fit. Experts correct me if I am wrong.

I have learned alot just within your responses. I really know nothing of watches, as you all may be able to tell. lol. Dont worry about letting me down easy I had a feeling this one is a fake I mainly wanted to know the difference between a fake and a real. Hey maybe the next time I find one it will be the real deal. Are there holes in the lugs? You could remove the bracelet yourself with a toothpick.
