Is a steel code 1159 coming and if so who is in!?

I have to admit. I was the first to hate on this watch when I first saw it but they’ve grown on me.

Does anybody think a steel version is imminent and would you bite at that point?

Would love your thoughts!

that's interesting! but I think a ss code chrono with an improved dial would cost no less than a ss daytona at grey market price.

Royal oak was polarizing but original. Hard to warm up to something that is so ordinary in design. Will never succeed

Only if they combined the 11.59 with the Lange Odysseus bracelet.

Guys don't you know how difficult it was to manufacturer the oversized Audemars Piguet logo on this watch? Took incredible skill and years of attempts.

Love mine ; amazing and unique wrist presence but the worst watch in photos ever. Once they improve on the dial this is a complete watch.

Steel would be cool but I don’t think they are dropping the price so would you prefer WG or Plat for roughly the same price?

Stunner !

Same here, it’s grown on me to the point of may go PM instead of wait for SS. I still don’t understand the vitriol for the watch !

As far as I understand it they're relegating models to precious metals for the foreseeable future.

That just makes absolutely no sense to me. I believe it’d be much more successful in SS at a more accessible price point.

It does make sense, it's not meant to be an entry level piece.

If there is money to be made, AP will produce it in SS .

Their standards and principles are like any other watch company,............ based on $$$

I think PM is more driven by limited production capacity.

So of the watches they make they’ve made a shift to more PM/ higher end pieces to drive margin.

No SS, Two-Tone. Look at the only watch.

So I have a rose gold black dial code and the interesting thing about it is that my cousin who is 20 years old who never commented on my watch and I have worn alot of different watches In front of him I. E. Royal oaks, daytona and even subs never said a single thing. The first day he saw me with the code his was like "wow that's a pretty watch, what is it."

In my mind this design is meant to attract a younger newer audience. Younger audience tend to have less cash. Thus it makes total sense to put this design language into a SS case. Just my two cents.

AP have a finite amount of resources to produce watches per year (which is now at 44k). They’re trying hard to push up their average $ per watch sold which means migrating to PM and away from SS.

If you read the interviews with Thierry Henry and his hesitancy to sell more SS Nautilus + him slinging mud at AP for their SS strategy for ROs, APs strategy for PM only CODEs makes a ton of sense.

The case and crystal are very cool. The current dial layout IMO is horrible so have zero interest in getting one. I think a 3 hander with no date wheel could be nice if they redid the dial

Redesign the dial then add a new integrated well designed/executed bracelet and you have a winner ..

I would be interested to try one on if a steel version is available. But probably won't pay to get one.
