Nobody says anything to me in public.

I did have a new acquaintance recently mention my watch in a text several weeks after our meeting.

Yesterday, I had an Apple store employee make a comment about my watch. I felt a bit uncomfortable because when he made the comment, everybody in my vicinity started staring at me.

I had a conversation with an Apple store employee last year who was a WIS after he noticed my Pelagos, said it was a cool watch and very rarely sees Tudor watches on wrists, let alone a Pelagos.

He did say that all he ever sees on customers wrists are Rolex watches which makes sense considering where he works.

Moral of the story, no one mentions your Rolex because they are common, or to put it more politely they are the most recognised watch brand out there so no one cares outside of this forum. If you work in an industry where a black sub is as common as a BMW 3 series or whatever cliched brand is associated with it, then no one will bat an eyelid.

Totally makes sense, you’re 100% correct, though it doesn’t matter to me I worked hard to achieve my little sub and it will always have a place on my wrist! Honestly in my travels I’m glad no one notices!!

I got a brand new Pepsi in October. Not one person has noticed or cared. I kind of think that's what makes it cool. I'd feel like an asshat if people constantly brought it up and made it a thing.

If you want to be flashy, gold plate your teeth or scotch tape hundred dollar bills to your forehead.

The young guy taking my order in the drive thru at Chick Fil A said, “I like your watch.”

I thought that was cool.

I have a few AP royal oak offshores...I get compliments on those all the time. However they are from people who have no idea what AP is....or watches in general.

It was a compliment from a 16 year old kid. I don’t know if he knew it was a Rolex or he just liked the watch. Regardless, it was a nice compliment.

My 126660 D-Blue gets comments quite often; PAM’s as well.

Almost never... Same story for Pepsi, Batman, Hulk and DJ2... Maybe once or twice a year..

Something I think is odd- when I see someone with a great watch I will strike up a conversation about it. Sometimes they are into it and sometimes not. But the weird part is I have never had anyone ask me what I have or am wearing. Which is fine...

But my point is - the rare occasions that anyone has commented on my watches I will ask to see what is on their wrist.

No, very rarely. Most folks wouldn't know Rolex from a Timex.

Mostly only prostitutes, criminals and WISs notice. Normal people simply don't care.

Yes, they notice my Orient and my Pontvs Brass dive watch. My Rolexs or Panerai or Omega or PP? Never.

Not my current DJ 36. But my Milgauss Black dial GV was noticed by a guy on a flight to Vegas. He was a WIS that had a Seiko and aspired to getting a Rolex. Very nice guy, we talked through the entire flight.

A client at my business spotted my Cartier Tank and was gushing over it. A bit embarrassing for me but I'm glad she liked it, lol

Another client at my business, a guy, noticed my Michele watch a couple of years ago and acted like it was a Rolex. I'm guessing his girlfriend had one so there was brand recognition.

Loads of my clients wear Rolex & other high end watches. I almost never say a word about it. Last week one of my regular woman clients came in wearing a Yacht-Master Blue dial in TT RG. It looked incredible on her, I almost commented. Added that to my list of grails.

TRF gives one a very false sense of reality. 99.9999999% of people don't know and don't care

I prefer that nobody notices my watch. I don’t like attention.

Scored an upgrade on my JFK-SEA flight today. The gent next to me was wearing a beautiful 4 digit Sub. We had an excellent conversation about watches and he literally ordered a blue 2 toned Sub for his wife while midair. Anniversary gift. That was really cool. He was on Bob’s watches and I encouraged him to check DavidSW’s site.

As fate would have it one of the pax right behind us noticed my 116500 and was very complementary. This is definitely an exception to the norm.

I wore a Speedmaster all throughout graduate school and that got the most attention out of any watch ive owned. It was from fellow watch enthusiasts tho.

As mentioned, the only people that notice my watches are those who are fellow enthusiasts. Other than catching a glance here and there at work, in meetings etc due to the case finishing, that would be the extent of it. If I'm honest, that suits me just fine.

I have had 2 people notice in the last few months, one on a plane and once in an elevator and here’s proof

Truth is, the only people that regularly notice are the people who care which are us, the people in the hobby. And that’s OK with me

Rarely. One time wearing my ceramic Pepsi from this guy at the beach. Aside from that, hardly ever. In fact, my current most prized watch, Patek 5168g does not get even a second look which I love that. I like being stealth and wear the watches just for me.

Two tones get noticed.

I get favorable comments on my16013. I know yellow gold is out right now among watch people. I had a 15505 that drew constant notice. These things run in cycles. Great time to steal a two tone Sub.

No Rolex yet, but never had a comment on my Omega PO.
I wear a Marathon GSAR with an after market steel strap and I have had half a dozen or more compliments on it.
No other compliments on my other watches ever

Outside my small group of friends who are WIS and some from work related circles, not at all. The general public don’t known and don’t care.

I had an elderly man come up to my table at a restaurant and tell me the Anniversary Sub I had on was his favorite Rolex. A waitress I knew well asked if it was real. And another once told me my 'bling was in her eye.' Place was brightly lit.
