Rolex Waitlists
Do you feel that the waitlists are getting better in recent months? I am hearing that people are starting to get the watches after waiting a month or so. Has anyone had this experience or we talking only the best AD customers can get something at this point.

For what it's worth even for a less desirable Air-King, I was on their list for about 10 months.

I think it varies by market. There are many factors on who gets a given watch at any time at an AD and those factors change too.

I've asked at least eight ADs to put me on a waitlist over the last two years for a Pepsi and don't think I've ever been allowed to get on one.

I dont think there are waitlists. I walked in to a non-relationship AD and asked for a Datejust 31 in TT and I had it that day. Can't believe I scored this without a huge wait!

They are a joke at some ADs. I pressed my SA yesterday as I am on several BS lists at my AD for a few models. He honestly said the list plays a very little role in their process. All desired pieces go thru the approval of the AD owner prior to being sold.

Rolex Waitlists
It totally depends on where the AD is located. In Germany the watches are so scarce so they come to the NL to purchase which creates the demand and supply problem. My AD told me that the SS and other TT or full gold sports watches won’t be available like a number of years ago. It’s just a new market and the demand is just too high.

Just getting into watches but always loved the explorer 2. Went into my local AD and wow they have nothing.. asked about the wait list but they did not even want to take my info down.. They said it would be highly unlikely I would get one since they have a long list. This is just for the explorer 2 black.
Did not have a great experience, don’t think I would want to buy one from an AD. My question is why don’t people buy used? On this site and other so many used watches and seems like no one is buying them. |

Seven years I was told for a 126710BLNR by a UK AD where I have no history - I was clearly being fobbed off and called just out of interest more than anything!
My local AD where I have purchase history sounded a little more promising - no timeline as such but they are trying to get an allocation by the sound of it. |

Out of the three AD's I went to, the only one that "said" they put me on teh list is the one I have a history with. One took my name down for teh second time and I think they just put these in a fish bowl in the back room. The other AD, the largeset in my market (at least by size) did not even pretend to put my name on a list.
It took at least three visits to get them to acknowledge that I am on the "list", and so far it had been three months for the Batman, which I was originally told 8-12 months. |

When I placed an order for a Submariner there was no mention of a waitlist. The AD merely said "I will try my hardest to get it for you". Three months later I had it. During that 3 months I looked at the Submariner online and it was tempting to gratify the immediate acquisition through grey dealers. But then I looked at the grey price vs the $7,500 MSRP and immediately I woke up.
Having to wait for a watch from the Rolex professional series requires an enormous amount of patience, depending on availability where you live. But why make somebody richer when the manufacturer is selling for less? Usually that happens in reverse. Last edited by 6538; 19 February 2020 at 10:32 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

We have seen more incomings as of late but they could be from the 2018 “waitlists”

At one of my local ADs I was told that for the most desirable models the sales team put 3 names, of their choosing, forward and it gets passed to head office who decide.

Waitlists are subjective as most ADs aren't first come first serve. It's more of a list to reference who wants the watches and hasn't gotten them.

Maybe if you read some threads instead of reflexively posting you might have an understanding of what's going on here. Would love for you to post an actual AD waitlist for all to see. Otherwise see the rest of the responses to this and every other thread on "waitlists".

It probably varies by region, AD and watch.
My AD will get 10 PO39 watches this year and the waiting list is closed. They sold us their last (so far as we know) OP36 and these will now be wait listed. I am on their list for a TT CHNR. When I joined the list about a year ago I was told mine would be in sometime around 2022-23. They now tell me that the next one in is mine and it should be in by April. So who knows? I do know that my AD revises lists, and will move people up or down, on or off, based on a number of factors. The model they use may not actually be what I would call a conventional list. But they do use something. With the exception of my early arriving TT CHNR, they have always accurately predicted my wait time. Make of it what you will. |

Are the lists even real or just something ADs say?

Likely a bit of both
Sadly many base what they read on the net as gospel. I have repeatedly asked to have one posted online and like Bigfoot they never seem to appear

I don't know if actual lists exist, but some (many?) SAs have names/contact info of people who have expressed interest in watches. Now how they use those lists seems to vary greatly, some run first come first serve, some go to their big spenders first, some duke it out with other SAs to the AD owner when shipments come in on who gets the allocations.

It varies highly on what you are waiting on, ut when you finally get what you want you won't care about the wait.

Been waiting on a BLNR for quite some time so I see no improvement. Hopefully this year.

Absolutely true about Germany, at least regarding Hamburg and Berlin. I´m more likely to see a unicorn galloping down the road than seeing a popular ss Rolex in an AD´s window here |

At probably about 90% of ADs, there is no real list. If you are a regular or have spent significant money there before the hype, they will remember

As others have said, there is no such thing as a waitlist.
Sure there is a difference in how different stores handle the people who want a particular watch, but it's laughable to think there is a list with people getting crossed off as watches come in. I've been on "the list" at my AD for a BLRO since the day it was announced at Basel two years ago. I'm not the biggest spender and I know that my number would have probably come up by now if there was an actual list, but it is what it is. The person I work with at my AD is a good guy and I know it's not in his control. Hopefully one day I will get my grail. Until then, I'm happy with what I have.
