They are supposed to be worn, at least she is getting her money's worth. It's not my watch so it doesn't bother me, besides, a quick polish and it will look new.

It depends on how bad the scratches are! If they're deep and very obvious to the naked eye, then I would be bothered!

I get what the OP is saying. I agree with several people here on this thread.........Wear your watch. However, IMHO there is no reason to abuse it. It would be like taking a brand-new Ferrari through one of those "beat and slam" automated car-washes everyday. I had a friend with a brand-new sports-car while in High School. He took his car through one of those every 2-3 days. After ~ 6mos, it had worn the clear-coat off one side of the car.
She can do whatever she wants with her watch, but I do not abuse my Rolexes. That is why I also own a Seiko. P.S. I guess it does depend on what a person's definition of abuse is.

Guys, it's Mars and Venus all over again, just accept it. You'll drop an egg on the kitchen floor and wipe your hands on the curtain and think nothing of it. Your wife will castrate you if she saw you do it.
On the other hand, the wife will scratch her watch to living hell, and brush her teeth and spill makeup in an Aston Martin, and wonder what the heck the big deal is. Just accept it. It gives you an excuse to commiserate with both the auto mechanic and the watch repairman. |

Scratches bother me..I'm careful...you have too much money invested to trash your rolex. my wife has an Omega and i see it laying around and i get a little POed. Women, not all now, can be a bit abusive to material things. Seems they just dont get it sometimes.

Years ago when I was a newbie with a Rolex, scratches bothered me....now, scratches don't get under my skin too much. I wear sport models and they are tool/functional watches....so, I just go with the flow.

I've never worn a bracelet on the same wrist as my watch. The PCL of the Yachtmaster is a scratch magnet, but I don't do anything intentional that would cause it to become more scratched up. The crystal, bezel, and case (which is polished, not matte) look great on my watch after more than 8 years.

OK - Since I seem to be the only other woman here that will confess - I do wear a gold bracelet with my Rolex.

Personally I would not wear a bracelet and a watch together on the same wrist but each to their own!!! Since it doesn't bother her why would I care what she did. Probably to her if it gets banged up she'll just buy a new one.

I bought my mom a TT and she wears at least one bracelet on the same wrist...at first I cringed but then realized as long as she is happy, that is all that matters. To most people their watch is just a watch, regardless of what name is on the dial.

Interesting how many people do not care about scratching. I certainly didn't fork out many thousands of dollars to damage my property. And by the way, scratches are considered damage in addition to wear and tear.
