Sellers Creating New Listings for Same Watch

I find it incredibly frustrating/annoying when sellers create a brand new posting for a watch that they already have out on the forum. Just because you’ve “bumped/ttt” 15 times doesn’t mean you should fool people by creating a completely new posting to make the offering seem “fresh.”

Am I being overly sensitive about this for no reason?

Of course they would do that. Any reasonable seller would not let a watch linger on any selling format for months. That would be not smart from the sellers perspective.

I get a kick out of it. It's like they don't think people see this happening. Just confirms that their asking price is way too high.

I'm very cognizant that it's the same usual suspects doing this as well.

Happens here in Asia as well. I guess to simulate a sale happening or to propagate the notion that someone out there is still buying at over-inflated prices.

I noticed the trusted sellers can double post too. Once in their individual boutique and again in the main forum.

I thought it was nice to have the boutique for our trusted sellers to have their own devoted space and didn't crowd the listing from private individuals.

But at the end of the day. Better to have too many posts. Duplicates or refreshed listings than to have too few.

its like that seller who thinks his polished damaged oyster perpertual is really worth over $3.2k, watched thing bumped over 30 times, and several new reposts.

It bothers me as well. I have never done this with anything I have offered for sale. Some of these listings are on there over and over and over. I think bumping should be enough and there's no rule that you HAVE to bump every two days either.

Same thing happens with houses, just a sales tactic. It doesn't really bother me, but does seem kind of desperate.

If it bothers one, then that person is easily bothered.

My favorite is people who have a watched listed from say last August, and just bump it forever without 1 cent price drop. Their prices usually so out there its ridiculous

I think its done to discourage lowballing
Many buyers think if a watch has been up long they can lowball due to it looking like it isnt selling.
If you want to change any info on it like price you have to post new

Every person in this world gets bothered or worked up about something that someone else doesn’t mind. Doesn’t automatically make them easily bothered in the general sense.

Patient is one adjective you could use. There are many others that come to my mind.

Lol. I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Maybe there's an angle that hasn't occurred to me.
Maybe he's just bragging that he owns this watch and wants to show off.

People need to complain about something. If not thicker lugs, then re-posted sales. We are a world of complainers.

Exactly. Maybe there should be a sub-forum for complaining or all of the “doom and gloom” speculation and grey market bashers.

Yup - and in these current times, people's stress has them being more easily annoyed.

I got a neighborhood alert on my Ring doorbell app about emergency sirens in the area! Please use to use this to show videos of suspicious activity in front of their house and not this kind of stuff.

That would be funny.

But honestly, a separate forum for just value, speculation, and watch "investing" might be a good idea.

General complaining should stay in the main forum.

I am guilty of "re-posting" or "freshening up" a current listing. Never occurred to me that I was doing something unscrupulous or with malice. Certainly didn't mean to FOOL anyone. Always thought a new post with a now lower asking price was in everyone's best interest.
If someone does a search for a watch they are genuinely interested in pursuing, aren't they going to see a posting for a same watch and figure out it was just time to re-establish a price?
Bumping something dozens of times seems boring to me, and especially when I want to offer a new lower price. If you want to make an offer, please do. If not in your range yet, oh well.
I have had people complain that I didn't mark an item sold, as if to not do it was so criminally misleading. When on the photo hosting site I delete photos as I see that it isn't something I have any longer, but to make that additional "bump/sold" post is sometimes overlooked.
So sorry for those who felt I am played the game incorrectly.

One of the rules on the classified forums is to mark an item "sold" when it has in fact been sold, so with all due respect they have good reason to complain when you fail to do this. It is a waste of people's time to make offers on items that have already been sold just as it is a waste of time to look at 3 or 4 listings for a watch you may be interested in only to discover each time that it is the same watch. The easiest way to lower a price is simply to reply with the new lower price.

I have never seen this on TRF, a listing has to have a price or it's against the rules here. Can you show us an example of this on TRF?

As a seller, doing the bump & relisting is to be on the 1st or 2nd page because
they want to sell their items of course. That’s normal, it doesn’t bother me. Buyers will
only dig couple of pages then.
I say, buyers’ advantage because most of the bumping,.. they lower the price. or
moving their listing on the 1st page or the next month.
