Yessssssssssssssss/Bwahahahahahaha!
Good day today.
The luke warm Spurs beat the chavs and dented their title hopes. Man Utd imploded...Lost the plot chaps????? Fulham? (Liverpool's win doesn't look so great in hindsight now does it?) We beat the Scots in the rugger. All we need now is the barcodes to sting the goons, villa to whip the dippers and the Irish to do the grand slam. Fingers crossed!!!!!!!! J PS COYS |

He's talking about football, Ed......the REAL football where you're only allowed to kick a ROUND ball with your feet......and not have 240+ pound gorillas maul each other on a football field over a ball that's ellipsoid!!

Having lived over 13 long years in NZ, I still haven't been able to figure out why a couple of dozen over-sized gorillas bash the hell out of each other over a stupid ball!!

Please!!! Padi's had enough trouble trying to convince me that "arsehole" is the correct spelling of that nicely descriptive term. You think I can translate all that gobblydegook, too? Good grief, gimme a break.

Probably for the same reason that individuals compete with each other to hit a little white ball with a very long stick, the object being to put the little white ball into a tiny hole in the ground several hundred yards away from where they are standing.

Allow me to translate.... In the English Premier League of football Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have just beaten Chelsea football club by one goal to nil. This result could have a detrimental effect on Chelsea winning the league title in May. Current champions and league leaders Manchester United Football Club were beaten by Fulham Football Club following a huge defeat by Liverpool Football Club. Two players for Manchester United were also dismissed from the game. In the Rugby Union Six Nations tournament, England beat the Scottish sides. The writer of the original post now hopes that Newcastle United Football Club at least tie the game with Arsenal Football Club, Aston Villa Football Club beat Liverpool Football Club tomorrow and that the Irish Rugby Union side beat the Welsh Rugby Union side to achieve an unbeaten rating and win the entire tournament. Postscript. Come on you Spurs! |

But doesn't a full match take 2-3 days, JJ. Even American baseball doesn't take that long to finish.

The ODI's (One Day Internationals) are an 8-hour affair and great fun to watch where each side has to face just 50 overs from their opponents and try and score as many runs as they can within those 300 balls (each over consiste of 6 balls).. It's good fun, very exciting and many of them end up in nail-biting finishes where results have come right down to the wire and, in some rare instances, the very last ball. JJ

Here's the trick. I tell Claire that cricket is on the tv. She immediately makes her excuses to go shopping/ to see her mother/ take the boy to the coast etc. I nip out, pick up a case of half decent bottled ale, a few bags of crisps (chips) and perhaps some stuff to make myself a nice submarine sandwich or "french stick" as we'd say here. Then, lay on sofa, apply beer and food and chill with the cricket. Perfect day!!!!!!!!!! It's even better watching a game live, sun shining and sat on the crate of beer in the stands!!!!! J |
