Hi Cru,
Where do you live in France? We were supposed to be visiting relatives in Lille after a week in Nice but we have been unable to travel. We will arrange a trip as soon as we can. E.

Hi. I live in Paris, in the 5th. Sorry about your travels. It looks like border restrictions with a number of non-EU countries will fall away on July 1, including Australia. So maybe you will get to come soon. |

Currently live in the US, but I'd give Texas a try.

Scottish weather is terrible Bas. Seriously terrible. Most of the people are warm and welcoming, but like everywhere, we have our problems. I love my Country dearly but not enough that I can’t see its faults. It would be Switzerland (Bernese Oberland) the North of Italy or Thailand for me. Never been to New Zealand but I suspect I’d be happy there too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One thing people often don't think about in these moves is weather/humidity and strange critters/bugs/snakes in the new places.
I grew up in Alberta and we had nice summers BUT you could be playing ball in the outfield and 3 mosquitos could pick you up and the next thing you know you're sitting in a wheat field in Saskatchewan. You could be eaten alive by the damn things. When I moved to LA the best thing was NO BUGS. Same as San Jose and Wine country. You can be out in the evening (anytime) with no bugs or flies bothering you. Hawaii seems pretty much the same way. When I visited Australia, although I loved it, there were a lot of flies. I guess you get used to these things but it seemed annoying. Humid places in the US have to have screened in porches to venture outside in the evening as well.

The east coast and part of middle and southern US are all pretty humid. The west not too much. Luckily CA is dry.

I grew up in the NYCity limits and never thought I'd live anywhere else for half of my life. Travelled a fair bit and discovered Vancouver BC. Thought it was a nice city. Then I met my wife to be, who happened to live here and that settled that. I moved to Vancouver and have lived here longer than in NYC. This is home a we love it here.
I'm not sure if we would want to live anywhere else permanently, but I know we'd spend more time in Denmark, southern France and/or Italy.. and we've travelled a fair bit.

I think it’s just the realities of actually living & working somewhere vs. holidaying for a couple of weeks. My wife lived there for a while whilst we were engaged so I do understand your perspective completely. It’s one of the most beautiful countries and food, culture etc. though & cannot wait for the next trip back.

There is a lot to be said for a temperate climate in a permanent place of residence.

I like the mountain communities overlooking the med in southern France, but I don’t know the realities of living there outside of the fact that I’ll need about €1.5m for the property.
Though the primary driver is climate and view from the pool, and access to 1st world healthcare.

I am very happy where I am here in western ny USA. If I had to move it would be to southern Ontario Canada as it’s basically 15 minutes from my home and very similar
