New GS GMTs - SBGE 253/255/257
https://www.grand-seiko.com/us-en/collections/sbge257g
Ceramic bezel, 40.2mm diameter, 20 bar WR. Still 14.7mm thick, but this is a far more wearable size for me than their 44mm GMT releases, so I’m interested. The green, blue, and black are all nice-looking, but I think the green may be the one for me. The light blue GMT hand on the blue model is great. I can’t decide! Anyone else digging these guys? |

Looks nice but I’m overwhelmed with alllllll the new models and all the “special”, “limited” and “exclusive” editions!!
It’s the mistake omega made!

these are awesome, and it’s about time.
if GS starts consistently making divers and GMTs like this in a 40mm size my wallet is in trouble. |

Does anyone know if the SBGJ237 should have been a part of this release?

I couldn’t agree more that the LEs and frequent new models can get overwhelming. I’m not personally interested in any of that LE stuff. I’m more interested in having reasonably-sized, robust tool watches to pick from that I really like, that are a good value for the money, and that I can actually find in the case at the AD. This kind of issuance piques my interest more than anything the Crown has been doing in recent years. I recently picked up the SBGJ201 and love it. If they start making 40-42mm divers that I like, I’ll gladly turn my attention to GS with significant frequency. |

beating Rolex to the "ceramic bezel Explorer II" punch.... The green looks gorgeous.
the SBGJ237 is kind of it's own thing- 44mm and with the sapphire bezel- Have to say as the owner of an SBGE201, i really like the dial without the power reserve indicator.- I know it's High Beat vs Spring Drive, but still.....

Lost opportunity again with this kind of thickness.

I know...if it was 13mm or less, I’d be even more excited than I am now. But I daily a Sea-Dweller and frequently wear the BB GMT, so I can take it. Also, the SBGJ201 that I recently picked up is around 14mm thick, but doesn’t seem to wear as thick as the measurements would indicate, if that makes sense. Quote:
I really like the dials that lack the PR indicator. I’ve never owned a GS that has it, and never owned one with Spring Drive either. I have one watch that does have a PR indicator on the dial, and it really hasn’t bothered me that much, so I’m willing to give one of these handsome devils a spin and see how I feel about it. |

Same 9R66 movement as the SBGE201 etc hence the same thickness, but smaller diameter and different bezel (which appears to have become fixed and lost the lume in the process). Yet showing as $400 more expensive than the SBGE201 (44mm) for some reason. More of an Exp II rival I think, especially for those who have been wanting both a slightly smaller diameter 216570 and a ceramic bezel...

Well yes, the SBGJ237 (and 239) are also new but the dimensions, movement and bezel are different. Thankfully the bezel rotates and is lumed. Size is diameter 44.2mm × thickness 14.4mm. Movement is 9S86 HI-BEAT.

I suspect that this will look much better in person than in some of the stock photos, but yes, this seems to be exactly the answer to the people calling for an Rolex ExpII with ceramic bezel. Can't wait to see one in person.
Perhaps a 2 travel-time watch collection, one of these for rugged/weekend/active and a SBGM221 for the more refined travel needs (work travel, cosmopolitan travel, etc)? Of course, you could wear one of these with a suit if you wanted to, but might make a good 2-watch collection, for less than a Rolex GMT at fair market value. |

Thanks for posting, AP. The green looks dark and subtle in the pics, and both of the others look fantastic. I dig the black too. Not sure which way I’ll go, but I need one. |

Me too, I don’t know which, but I know I need one of them. Either the blue or the black for me.

I actually really liked them as well. However, I've been spoiled by the light titanium on the SBGA321.
for some reason on Seiko site they do not list the weight of these new models. It probably won't be huge, but I wanted it for comparison. |

Dig this watch so much. Been wanting a spring drive for the longest time but none of previous releases spoke to me enough, even the snowflake which I tried on. When I saw this release I decided to get it. Paid in full at my AD, waiting for delivery now. The two concerns I had before pulling the trigger was non rotating bezel (can’t easily get to a different time zone) since I work with people in different geographies on a daily basis, and the thickness.
But I saw one vid on Instagram and felt like the watch wears thin, so pulled the trigger with AD. There’s also two vids out on YouTube showing sbge255 and sbge257. Just search sbge257 (I cant post links yet...) Released in Japan but not in the US yet from what I understand. My AD said I’m getting the first sbge257 delivery. Btw was deciding between the green and blue dial, but I have a Batman and also a seiko blue alpinist. Plus the green was a bit more subtle, whereas the blue dial was a bit too screaming to me. Can’t wait to get my watch |

Looks like the clasp is a bit different from their typical heritage closure
