Just bought my 2nd Rolex...
Hi all
Earlier in the year I was fortunate enough to buy a 116610 from an AD I have no previous purchases with. Yesterday the same AD called asking if I was still interested in buying a 40mm Yacht Master (blue dial) to which I said yes. Paid deposit on the phone and collected the watch today. While I was having some of the links removed, the manager said that I’ve been very fortunate with my purchases, which I know, however I shouldn’t expect the same luck in future...! That took me by surprise, and I questioned him as to why he’d say that as I’m surely building a good relationship with them?! His response was, we have lots of clients who want SS models and they may prove more fitting in the future. Has anyone had an AD speak to them like that? Especially whilst making a purchase?! Or was it a shitty technique of trying to make me buy more! |

Your salesman obviously never took the Dale Carnegie course.

Wow what a way to ruin the experience. The relationship goes both ways and he definitely didn’t hold up on his end.

Wow. That is very disrespectful.
I feel like there was no need to say that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yeah that's bang out, if it's London based though I am 0% surprised.

He's acting like he did you a favor by taking $12K from you for a watch, which in my personal experience, has not been hard to find.
Would not sit well with me. Despite the lack of hype for the steel YM compared to other models, it's still a great watch. Enjoy it and find another AD. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

My AD puts it much more diplomatically and doesn't imply that I'm somehow a second or third class customer, although when the say they "constantly revise, update and allocate according to their relationship with customers on an individual basis", or words to that effect, I am in no doubt about how far down the pecking order I am compared to some of their big spenders.
How you were treated sounds just plain shitty. Although you have to make allowances for people. Sometime's they can be distracted, clumsy in manor, or just received in a context which they didn't intend. But you'll still have your beautiful watch when the smell has died away. Congratulations. Good pick up. |

Exactly! Only my 2nd experience with a Rolex AD but really puts a sour taste on the whole experience. I don’t think that the majority would speak to customers like that however I do get the sense of they think they’re doing me a favour and I should be grateful they’re allowing me to spend nearly £10k with them

Return that watch.
Why even go through the purchase after they talked down on you like that. Unless you enjoy being disrespected. |

I would let him know he lost me as a customer and that I wouldn't be coming back.
He expects his customers to kiss his ass. The sad thing is, people do it to get what they want. |

Which town would that AD be in as I would be keen to give them a wide berth.
Bloody hell if I'm spending £10k I expect some basic courtesy, if they don't like me that's fine but keep opinions private.

Thankfully never experienced such behaviour.
If you don’t care about doing business with that AD again (of probably any other!) I’d express your disappointment of being treated in such a way on social media! |

Just remember, the luxury of being a buyer is that you can decide who you want to do business with, and decide who to go “get lost.” |

Sales associates often can’t afford the products that they sell and will often make passive-aggressive remarks. Screw ‘em. Get the watches you want and come here for the celebration.

Depending on how badly I wanted the watch, I would have very seriously considered not buying the watch and reversing the charges to me card. That's just not right. If there was someone "more fitting" why didn't the salesperson go there first?

I would’ve let him keep it. It’s unbelievable how AD’s are treating people these days. You could go to a department store and be treated better while purchasing a $300 fashion watch. So disappointing...

what's the point? they'll just sell it within a day or two anyway. you won't be teaching them a lesson and instead will just be losing a watch

hahaha I would've returned that yachmaster, sneezed obnoxiously and say that I'm allergic to BS and looked for another AD.

I am keeping the watch, as I have wanted a YM for quite a while and I think it’s a fantastic looking watch even though it splits opinion. |
