Oysterflex Daytona

Hi fellow members

How does the oysterflex Daytona fit and sit on wrist compared to steel version
For average wrist 6.75- inches or so

If one does find good size fitting oyesterflex from AD at the time of order then will it help eliminate the complaints some people have have that it doesn’t sit well and sit too high ??

I have about the same wrist size as you and it fits very nicely. No issues with it being top heavy. It’s an amazing watch.

The watch itself sits the same. (lugs are bigger, but that doesn't really touch the wrist at that size. Your real issue is going to be the 'fins' under the OF that can dig into your wrist if not perfectly flush. In this case, the shape of the wrist matters a lot more than the total circumference. This determines a lot of the comfort level.

Also, major word of caution, be very careful about who you allow to change the straps. So many threads on this going the wrong way. My first one they totally botched as well. (Made up with a SS Daytona, but it's not for novices to do...)

I think a wrist size in the 6.75 range is probably good for a Daytona. Steel is steel, and the Oysterflex lightens up the watch so it is really easy to wear.

I’m sorry to be mr negative. But the Oysterflex is a piece of crap no matter what watch it is on. It came with my white gold yachtmaster and I had it changed out for a hand made custom built leather strap. Rolex should be ashamed, in my opinion. It’s a flipping rubber strap. Fine, it has titanium through it. So what? It feels cheep, it looks cheap and I’m appalled by it.
All just me personal opinion. Love the Daytona and have 7 different variations. But none with a rubber band on it as a strap.nonhsrm to those that like it.

I disagree and am really happy with mine. A 6.75" wrist, similar to mine, should put you on the 'default' sizing of EE for the 6 o'clock side and F for the 12 o'clock. I bought mine pre-owned and fortunately the previous owner didn't have freakish huge wrists or tiny wrists.

There is some adjustment in the clasp, I wear mine on the last (widest) hole - not too tight but doesn't move around - but could probably use the middle one too, and then there is the easy-link adjuster for an extra few mm if you want it during the day, which is done in seconds without a tool needed.

As someone else mentioned perhaps the shape of your wrist determines how easy it is to get a good fit, but there are lots and lots of people on the forum who really like it.

I like the oyster flex

Looks and sits perfectly. Best rubber strap I've used by some margin.

On your wrist size you'd probably be looking at D+E sizing. Check chart carefully, avoid unnecessary strap changes, OF don't come with spring bar cut outs, easy to damage the lugs if not careful.

Man. Talk about some serious hate for OF. Glad you got rid of it as it clearly wasn't for you.

To the OP: my OF fits great. I have approx a 6.75" wrist and I wear EE-E. Lots of discussion about how that's not a "proper" fit and isn't on the Rolex OF guide, but its what works for me!

Can’t agree at all. I wear the 42 with the OF and it feels and looks great. If you disliked it so much, why did you buy it? Very odd.

Thing is, Rolex aren’t stupid, and the ‘fins’ are there for a reason. They stop the watch, 18k so heavy, from sliding around the wrist. And it works. My gold Daytona, with bracelet, was always moving about because of the sheer weight. The Yachtmaster 42 sits firmly, without being tight. And it stays cool too. The Oysterflex will not be to every taste, but it’s a clever and serious bit of design.

Disagree. Oysterflex is very comfortable IMO and looks good with most watches without a coloured bezel.

I didn't like the fins at first, but they have a purpose. Keeps the watch stable, helps with sweat, and compresses/decompresses with wrist swelling. Clever piece of engineering, IMHO.

I just purchased a 116518LN and love the OF. It sits so comfortably on the wrist and looks great IMHO. The "fins" seem to be an important part of this comfort.

My AD actually stocks different size straps and when I bought the watch I had them size up to the E. After a week, I was never wearing the watch with the Easylink deployed since it felt too tight so it seemed like a waste of the feature. I went back a week later and had them swap the E for an F and I am much happier. I now wear the watch with the Easylink closed most of the time, and once in a while, like after playing a sport, I will deploy the Easylink and thankful it's there.

I tried one on one time and the watch did not rest well on my wrist. Did not look like a good fit even if it was.

Rolex isn't the only watch brand with rubber straps and a heavy gold or platinum watch head. I can only speak from my view, and I know it must fit others well. But it sits wide on my wrist.

Well I just had my AD change the strap and they dented it while doing so. It is going back to Rolex for a refinish, ETA 1 month at the least. Be careful.

How about $40K retail (you can't find 'em), and about $60K on the secondary market, for a watch on rubber? Is that really how we judge the beauty of a timepiece, solely by the material of the strap?

Hey, I like the watch but hate the rubber cheap strap. Now I have it the way I like it. Personalized it and wear it often. I do this to several different watches. I swapped out the jubilee on my steel Pepsi GMT for the oyster bracelet with glide lock and so on. Why be like everyone else? I buy and wear watches for me, not for other people’s opinions. I don’t need someone to be impressed or validate me. I don’t buy suits off the rack either. This is a great watch. Feels good, looks good. Just the right amount of ball tingle when wearing it. And a great addition to the collection.

No silly. It's by the name on the label. Come on!
They all keep good time and are reliable. A Patek costs more because it's made by virgin elves that live in Switzerland and put it together only between 2 and 3 AM each morning on Sundays.

As an aside I own 2 Pateks and prefer Rolex because they are more reliable, recognizable, repairable and robust. The Pateks mostly stay on the watchwinder.

Took me a bit to get used to oyster flex. I like it. It sits up off the wrist, not flush like an Everest band does. The fins can dig in, if not sized just right. And I do pop open the ezlink sometimes for comfort.

It looks great on the 116519LN I have. That’s why I bought it. I liked the look.

I have PM with full bracelets too. Those PM bracelets are very comfortable to me.

The oyster flex may actually be less comfortable. Still evaluating. It’s certainly lighter, but I was not trying to “lighten up”. AD said that the fins would loosen up and flex more, over time. That would make it more comfortable, for me.
