2021 Prediction: White dial Explorer 1
Explorer 1 didn't get any update this year. They are waiting to update it next year with Explorer 2. They discontinued OP 39 in white and I'm thinking that next year we'll have both Explorers in White & Black.
Explorer 1 - White & Black in 40mm Explorer 2 - White & Black in 42mm (maybe ceramic) |

The white is not happening. But I do want an update to the ExI.

Ceramic would not be a good thing for an Explorer II, unless they intended to change the market it's aimed at.
It's far too brittle for cave exploring where people are stumbling around in the dark with minimal lighting.

Explorer I in 48mm and exp II in 54mm. Seems like the trend is heading that way.

2022 prediction: Explorer gets a puce dial. My friend's cousin's brother-in-law knows a guy who delivers the newspaper to a guy who "has an AD." You can put it in the bank.

Explorer will be 41 or 42 millimeters.
The old “small Explorer is best” crowd will be sitting on the porch of the Rest Home eating tapioca pudding and complaining about the new dinner plate sized Explorer !

I think Explorer I will stay black. I bet the numeral font will change slightly. Perhaps a bit less blocky as things look to be going more sleek

I expect the market for the Explorer and indeed many other sports Rolexs already changed quite some time ago, and that the ceramic bezel represents risk on a much wider scale given the sheer number in circulation.

Doesn't Rolex have that watch show with Patek in January 2021? That's 4 months away. I think it's reasonable to speculate on what they'll do for that show based off this small late-summer release.

While most of us would hate to see it, a 40mm Exp 1 doesn't seem all that unlikely after today's events.

True. And it's one of the things that makes the Explorer II so unique and desirable.
