Straight razor

Anyone use a straight razor? If so, any recommendations for one between $100-$200? Thank you!

You can get a solid, well-honed razor, a poor man's strop, and a brush within that price range. I started with one of his beginner kits and still use the Dixie razor I purchased from him. You'll likely knick the strop until you get some experience, so its good to start with an inexpensive one.

I use a double edge and TOBS cream. Astra blades. Started about 1.5 years ago. Daily shaving. Never felt better!

Edit: Also the TOBS after shave balm. Pure happiness

I think my razor is bi.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I tried but could never get the blade sharp enough on the strop. Gave up in the end.

Look for something German made from Solingen and you will be happy.

A good starting point is a shavette razor, you can master the shaving technique without needing to care for and strop a full straight razor.

Once you get an idea on what type of razor your buying then you will need to invest in a few nice shaving brushes, bowls, etc etc etc..Its a art form...

Straight razor is the only way I shave. Have a couple Dovo's, a Wade & Butcher and a few vintage Sheffield blades. Lot's of gear to go with. Best places to learn before you leap as follows:

Feather blades are ridiculously sharp

OP - to put how sharp you need the blade in perspective, after stropping you should be able to push the blade against a hanging hair (dangling, not pulled taught) and the hair be cut.
