To blue or not to blue

I have decided to take the plunge and go gray for a sub
I have asked the search to cover all models except PM....so SS and TT models
If the 126613LN or 126613LB comes up which way would you go :)

Blue would be my vote. But you can't go wrong with either.

Me personally like more vibrant colors on watches and don’t care to match to my clothing. In which case I would pick blue between your options listed. Depends on your personality.

I know a dealer with a LN in stock. Not too hard to find at retail if you express some interest in person.

That said I prefer the blue dial TT sub.

I had the fortune of trying on a 41mm LB and I have to say it was incredible in person! If you’re going grey though why not consider the LV?

I’ve owned all 3 116 series watches and would have to say all steel for one very simple reason.
The yellow colour used on the bezel of the LN/LB is awful!
It makes the watch looks so nasty and tacky, kills the whole look of the watch yet nobody ever seems to mention it, if it were gold and matched the bracelet the watch would look so much better and I’d still own one

I really like it but the premium for the bezel is mighty large on gray but lets see :)

126613LB is very easy to get from AD. Got mine by simply walking in, and walking out with it.

I haven't seen the 126613ln in real life, but I did see the TT SD43 a few months ago which is fairly similar albeit in a bigger size. I liked it, but I didn't love it enough to buy it. Then I saw and tried the 126613lb on. To me personally, the LB was on another level. Honestly that dial by itself is IMHO the most beautiful blue dial I've seen in any watch, other Rolex models included. Indoor it's deep and full of nuances, outdoor it's playful and lively. Most importantly to me it can take a direct light without going histrionic like other sunburst dials I've seen (DJ, OP41, YM for example). I'm exaggerating to make a point, I would still wear the other blue dials but the blue Sub is pure perfection. I didn't want another black dial diver as I already have the SD43 and a few other non-Rolex ones. I really wanted something blue, not borrowed and new.

The 126613LN is a beautiful watch, there's no question about that. It's more serious, more grown up, more mature. The blue Sub is more fun to wear, it doesn't take itself seriously. I had a prejudice against the Bluesy, I thought it'd be a bit tacky, too showy and loud, it wouldn't suit me perhaps as I'm kind of reserved . The watch I wear the most is the YM40 pt dial 116622 to give you an idea, it's quiet and understated. How very wrong I was about the LB. It's perfect for the days I feel like wearing something a bit more showy. It's exactly what my fairly conservative and humble collection needed.

Here are a couple of average pictures I took indoor and outdoor. Some members have posted amazing shots of the blue Sub in this forum. The watch doesn't disappoint in the flesh.

Colin, you need to see the LN and LB in real life, let them speak to you and take it from there.

Thanks for the thoughtful thoughts
I think you’re right that a watch always looks and feels different in person and if I am unsure I need to see them both but I think now - given I have my blue DJ - I might go look at the LN first - thanks for pics too

I just went through a similar dilemma of choosing between the bluesy or the 116710ln. I ultimately chose the 116613lb blusey as it added color to my collection and the blue sunburst dial combined with gold lettering is simply stunning. My biased vote would be for the 116613lb.

In the end, either way, you can’t lose. Here’s a shot of my blusey that just arrived yesterday. Cheers and happy hunting.

You have to see the 126613LB in person before pulling the trigger on anything else. No photos, even Rolex's, fully capture the depth of color and the variety of hues you get in different conditions. Just picked mine up from an AD today.
