I'll see your "holier than thou" thread ban and raise you a "I can't have what I want, I'm pissed off and Rolex REALLY needs to do something about it" thread ban.

Best wishes for 2021.

Another need to bundle with TT date justs and ladies to get allocation...

First off, i LOVE SG! As for shortage, that is to be expected when there is soooo much currency available for free.... plus crypto is doing great. i wouldn't expect SG to get any real inventory they can put out for the general public for at least the next four to six months, perhaps longer... until the central banks allow their massive created bubble to burst. Without a sustained bubble burst, it will get worse because cash is trash right now so buy anything of intrinsic value.

Bravo... and thank you.

The only thing worse then Rolex smugness is Covid righteousness. Life must go on.

And for the record OP I personally appreciate your post about the Singapore AD. I'm curious how the Hong Kong market is doing now..

Isn’t this a watch forum? That you are an admin for?

What a ridiculous statement. People come here to get away from the daily grind and *gasp* talk about watches.

An even more ridiculous statement, expecting members to check their reality at the door, regardless of what role they play on the forum.

Agreed

Sounds like they are either selling all their inventory or they’re not getting inventory due to shut downs.

This is every salesperson's dream. That and having huge amounts of product to restock and selling it again and again and again, without having to break a sweat.

If the endless supply and endless profit scenario is not possible, anyone in sales will "settle" for selling everything as it arrives without having to actually do any selling at all.

Rolex has reached a new low

OP... it’s not much different than in the last 2-3 years IMO. Only diff is that even solid PM pieces have disappeared from stores. As the SA said to me today, their waiting list is so long it will take years to clear even if they stopped taking names. Only way is to have a RM bump you up said list. Demand is through the roof and I can’t blame the brand.

Buy one online from a trusted seller and show us some pics. Anyone who can afford a completely and utterly unimportant $10,000 watch can surely pony up $14K for the same thrill.

So true. Through no fault of their own, what was a limited supply in the past, has had months of no production, limited international distribution, etc. I guess the SAs have to earn their living with all the readily available brands but in some cases those traditionally available other brands have suffered shortages from the COVID effect also...

Rolex has reached a new low

Lambasting PADI’s comment is kinda unnecessary.

If the discussion was actually about watches and in particular about Rolex watches as opposed to being about the relative unavailability which has been an obvious observation for the past 3 years I would understand.

Typically the guy means well and I don’t see any different here.

And everyone on this forum I’m assuming loves and shares a passion for watches. It’s just irritating that we can’t enjoy buying, sometimes trading up or down to get what we want and enjoy the process of it. That’s all. It’s not that serious and believe I don’t take it that seriously. It was actually my first time visiting an AD in nearly a year.

That’s fair.

I personally am just a bit fatigued by the constant grumbling about supply.

I’ve spoken to my AD, and business is booming for them. Sure, they would like more supply because they could sell more, and who wouldn’t want that. And they do feel bad constantly have to disappoint customers. But their supply hasn’t diminished, their sales have gone up. When they had full cabinets back in the day, it’s because the watches weren’t selling so fast. The empty displays are a good thing for the bottom line!

We should also remember that whilst this forum tends to have a bias to the sports watches, my AD does a roaring trade on ladies non-sports watches, so it isn’t as though they aren’t selling watches.

I guess i feel very privileged to be in a position to have the money to buy a Rolex, and i can’t imagine ever moaning about not being able to get one that i want, as that would make me feel a little entitled, and i know that’s how my friends and family would view me.

And before people shout me down, saying that if these threads frustrate me i should just ignore, you are all absolutely right! But if only it was that easy!!

As for my general comments about entitlement on matters such as these, I’m happy to be shot down on that as well, it’s just a personal perspective. I come from a very modest background, have family members and friends impacted by CoVID, so whilst i do completely understand people saying we’re here to discuss watches (and rightly so), i can’t help but think some perspective is good at times.

Will try harder to control myself in future!

The guy means well?

Almost every single of of his comments is negative toward the OP of whatever the topic is. I really struggle to see why he wants to be a part of something that he doesn't seem to like. I get most of the posts are not what he thinks they should be about, but it's exhausting to see his negative comments just about every single time he posts.

The OP in this topic is taking about a Rolex related issue. I get it's posted about everyday, but unless you have a person picking what topics to publish that's the name of the internet forum game.

Not sure what recession the OP is referring to?

Has the pandemic terribly affected parts of the economy? Yes. Certainly

Has it affected those in the market for Rolex? Nope.

I thought Rolex hit a new low when the SA's started asking how much I have spent in the store when I inquire about a new watch, but it seems to be working fine for them.

And they have the watches in the back, they're just not for you (or me).

Agreed. Especially the part about all his negative comments, and coming from a mod no less. Its not just a negative comment or criticism here and there - its literally every post. Some of which even sound arrogant and put people down. It's gotten to the point when I see his name beside a post I just scroll by without reading.
Whatever.
