Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I feel very fortunate to have landed both a vaccine and the GMT.
While I am an essential worker, I am grateful to have gotten a vaccine earlier than expected for my profession. My main risk to Covid is from from my specialized ICU doctor wife (she is now 100% vaccinated) bringing it home. Note that I got my shot by bird dogging the process and being lucky to be at the right place and the right time. I encourage all that want a vaccine to do the same. Due to the low volume of vaccines being distributed, the requirement for two shots, and the extensive state training required (20 hours in my state for a trained medical professional) to administer the shot (due to the experimental approval, cold storage, and multiple dose vials), I would not sit back and wait for the stare to you because it may not ever happen. As for the GMT, my AD (branch of a small statewide chain in a college town) said it was the fastest they have ever gotten a request from Rolex in for a specific SS model. I requested it from my new AD when I ordered my wife a ring after Thanksgiving (for Christmas) to celebrate our second daughter earlier this year. |

I work in a field where I am deemed an essential employee (highly debatable for my executive level position) and I employee essential workers in another industry from a side business (who I got qualified for a shot before my own). I have been tracking my state’s process through my doctor friends and by keeping in touch with the health department. Reddit has also been extremely valuable in tracking the registration windows in my community. I registered within minutes of my classification going live and was approved within hours. I am not sure I would have been approved as quickly as I was if I hadn’t gotten my employees in the side business approved first (earlier classification window). Then I was flexible on my vaccine clinic site (my first shot was 30 minutes west and my second shot is 90 miles west of where I live). While lots of people successfully registered in that same window (and still can) there is a large back log of people’s registrations being approved. Also, by the time I was approved all of the local shot allocations for 2 months (as far out as my state will let you schedule) were already spoken for. To complicate matters, non local shots are limited to very specific larger clinics/drives as the local health districts want to preserve their shots for their residents and I was unsure if the clinic I registered for would administer me the shot until I go there yesterday (they did obviously). The whole process is a cluster f*** and I am concerned about when my parents (70+) and I in-laws (65+) will ever get through the backlog/process to get a shot.
