Date Entry On Warranty Cards for 2020
The Rolex Warranty Card does prescribe the date to be written as XX/XX/XXXX in the UK but I have seen a few where the dealer only does it as XX/XX/XX.
While writing a date in upcoming year 2020 , we should ensure its complete in full format, e.g. 31/01/2020 and not as 31/01/20 because anyone can change it to 31/01/2000, 31/01/2021 or 31/01/2019 or in between any year to their convenience This problem will persist only this year. So be cautious about this. Don't write and also don't accept it while receiving warranty cards. |

Rolex didn't use plastic warranty cards in 2000.

If you do buy used in a few years time look out for date abnormality where a warranty card could have been doctored to make a watch appear newer than it is. |

The card is swiped on the system and registered in the buyers name .That's the date of purchase .

Bought wife's watch yesterday and her warranty card was printed and not handwritten.

It's possible. Hopefully, the ADs are smart enough to write out the full year.

Is the buyers name recorded and sent to Rolex? I thought that the only thing recorded was that the Rolex was bought and warranty activate on a particular day. Also, we talk about swiping the warranty card. What hardware is the card being "swiped" into such that the info is sent to Rolex?

My AD said that Rolex is now requiring them to retain the leading two digits for a year after purchase.

This is the most important point. It’s much less likely that someone would take a 2020+ watch and present it as a <20 years older than it is. But in 6 years when the 5-year warranty runs out, you can expect some shenanigans. The easiest safeguard from Rolex’s perspective is to change the warranty card slightly in the next 12 months (unless they can “force” ADs to write the 4-digit year on the cards) ... The date on the card doesn’t make a difference when it comes to the warranty, but an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to avoiding exasperated warranty seekers in 2026.

Looking into buying a BNIB Sub from a grey and the warranty card is stamped from an overseas AD but no name and no date. Is it common to have no date? How can the AD release the watch without dating the card?

Warranty card wrong year
So let’s say for example the AD put 2020 on a purchase made in 2021 as an honest mistake and you only notice this when you get back home, naturally you would take it back to the shop but how can they remedy this?
