Rolex AD Manager fired

I have just heard that a Manager of an authorised dealer in the North West of England has been fired for 'bumping' people up the list for Rolex sports models.

Anyone have any information

As has been discussed many times before, i’m not sure ‘the list’ is an actual real rigid mechanism but more a list of names of people who have expressed an interest to the AD. I got my Explorer relatively quickly when someone who had asked for one a long time before me decided to pass on it. I think it would be more likely that someone would be sacked not for moving people a few places up the list but more how they offered to move them up the list.

Isn’t the manager the one who sets the pecking order?

For $$$’s.

Have just watched the video - thanks for that. Yes, as I suspected it wasn’t for moving someone up ‘the list’ but for how they offered to facilitate it a cash exchange.

Paul Thorpe is someone you can take or leave. I certainly wouldn’t have much confidence in this story.

If the storyline is that an AD manager was fired for revising a waiting list, either the teller is talking crap or AD managers are getting fired by the score every day. I wonder which it could possibly be?

Bloke does something dodgy and gets fired. I've never heard that before. I expect there'll be a newsflash on the telly any minute. Will we all remember where we were and what we were doing on this fateful day?

So ADs managers selling to greys (which means 100% of all ADs) should all be fired right away?

Did you watch the video - the guy was allegedly asking for a cash bribe to sell the watches. Yes that definitely deserves to be sacked in my book!

Paul Thorpe told us there would be a price increase in January.

Seems to be all hearsay. Only interesting if there is some proof. Otherwise just another story by people that can’t get what they want.

Indeed, he did. And it was so obvious there was no factual basis for the rumor. Now, he is guessing it will be in April. Even a broken watch is right twice a day!

Not following the policy set by your employer, in this case the Dealer, is frequently grounds for termination.

Happens all the time so I say that this is a non-story, story.

AD personnel issues do not involve Rolex corp.

He is/was a used watch salesman with as much idea about the marketing strategy at Rolex as I have. Which isn’t much.

The interesting thing here is that the name of the long time manager (and I mean a long time) at my local AD had disappeared and a new manager appointed. He has also disappeared from Linkedin.

Interestingly enough I was looking through the feedback for my local ad and found this comment

"First time buyer with a splendid service. Managed to pick up a Rolex Daytona in Nov which was delivered in January"

The chances of a first-time buyer getting a Rolex Daytona .....?

Lol seems like a nice guy but now I understand the used car salesman comments... I have to agree with a lot of people here that a lot of these people on YouTube do not do the high end watches justice at least in terms of appearance... some strange characters in the luxury watch world on YouTube these days.

Sigh...prove it. The manager of my AD gives some direction I’m sure but she does not micromanage the SA’s there nor does the store “sell out the back door.”
They don’t need to, I’ve been told by two sources that they are the third highest volume Rolex dealer in the US, no reason to do shady things to risk killing the cash cow.

After reading this and scores of other issues with AD’s around the world, do people still think Rolex wants to get in to the retail watch business???

Emma Donaldson was the Rolex manager at Liverpool Goldsmiths and she no longer holds that position. May be a coincidence.

Precisely. But people who are in love with themselves and the sound of their own voices don't tend not to take this into consideration.

It's harmless. Mostly.

I feel privileged to be among such an altruistic group of watch enthusiasts who would never try to sell something for what ir was worth instead of 50% of that because someone in Switzerland says they should.

I can tell you that when I went to pick up my Rolex last week, my sales rep stated there was 25 people ahead of me, for what its worth.
