Considering a Pelagos vs 300SMP - Quality issues and clasp?

I had a blue Pelagos that I purchased in 2018 and I'm getting ready to list my SMP 300 for sale on WUS this week. The Pelagos is a great no nonsense tool watch that I had for 2 years and I only sold it to put the funds toward a 114060. I never had any issues with the Pelagos. I purchased a SMP 300 because I was looking for a beater to possibly replace my sub since I now have 2 subs. I wanted to try out something I haven't had before so I got the SMP at a pretty good deal. After owning both I'd take the Tudor over the SMP any day. The Omega will never replace my 114060, and if any watch would replace the sub, it would be the Pelagos. No it's not going to win any fashion shows any time soon like the Omega, but I like the adjustable clasp better and to me it wears better than the SMP. Maybe because it's a little lighter due to the titanium? Some people complain about the titanium getting marked up easily but you can get those marks out so it's no big deal. I know on a lot of "this or that" posts, people say to get both. In this case, they are both completely different watches so if you can swing it, go for it. Good luck.

I own neither, closest I come is my Planet Ocean 2500, which is a terrific watch. I like the Omega sport line, and the last two versions of the 300m are great, I’ve been toying with the black or blue dial for about a year. The bracelet is only so so, in my opinion, but everything else about the watch is great, the movement, the way it sits, the look is first rate.

Pelahos clasp is comfy. Wears well. No issues with lume. Light watch.

Pelagos bracelet is amazing. It is light weight due to its TITANIUM alloy construction making it way comfortable along with industry best clasp with 3 micro adjustments and a 4 spring loaded adjustment for additional flex. Pelagos is Amazing all around watch so nice I bought it twice first in blue then LHD have both in collection.

At the end of the day, neither watch is bad and neither is better than the other.

Each one has its good points. Bottom line, buy the one you like the most, whichever you choose, it won't be the wrong one.

I have a Pelagos and PO (not SMP, but the PO has a 6-point adj clasp). I personally like the PO clasp better, but i wear the Pelagos more often, so the clasp isn't a deal-breaker, definitely not uncomfortable.

I own both and think they are completely different watches. The Tudor has a tool watch feel and has a completely different appearance and wear. The Omega is a great hybrid watch to me as on the bracelet it is one watch but on the OEM rubber strap another and I mean that in a good way. It depends on what you want and the look. For summer the Blue Pelagos is strong and the LHD is always on top of the game. The Omegas are tuff to beat for appearance, movement, wear and value. No right answer, just personal preference.

I've owned both and still have the SMP (white). The Pelagos is a great piece but I could never get the proper fit even with the spring loaded adjustment system. For some reason it was always too tight for me.
I have both the OEM bracelet and rubber strap for the Omega but it spends 90% of its time on the strap.
Like others, I suggest trying both on and get them both out in the sunlight before you decide...just my .02

I just don’t like the traditional 5 link style bracelet of the Omega, however, the Omega in the last photo looks absolutely superb!

I wouldn't say it feels cheap but I would say it feels different than the typical SS watch. I didn't care for it personally, but I can see the appeal.

I second the rubber strap.
