I dont know this…
Thank you !!!

I also think so. Nothing like it unless an homage or a copy. Classic iconic design, durability, versatility, simplicity and dial legibility.
Legendary.

So many other great divers out there. Would be tough to rank.

I agree with Padi56. Dive watches are only used as back ups these days. Dive computers do the heavy lifting.
If I were a professional diver, I would use a Rolex. Submariner for shallow/recreational diving and a SD or SDDS for deep diving/saturation diving. The SD and SDDS really only come into their own at depths greater than 300m and since few people EVER go that deep, I think the Submariner can rightfully be tapped as the most desirable (King, if you will).
Since I am only a recreational diver, my back up is a Seiko SRPD777. Does all the same functions as my Rolex, but I can replace it for less than $400 if it leaks or gets lost...

It's not bad for an entry-level pro piece, but "king," of a "jungle"? Don't think so.

If sub is entry level, what is mid level and upper level?

This...every other dive watch on the market is measured against the Submariner...really all that needs to be said.

LOL! The "BLANCPAIN" on the side of the case really does give off Invicta vibes...terrible.

Is the submariner the king of the jungle?
Yes, I think so. The original Sub from 1953/54 spawned a whole genre of watches, immensely popular to this day. But there are now of course countless would-be usurpers! (I'm looking at you, Omega & co.!) It's been said thousands of times but the Sub really is iconic, timeless and a real classic. Probably the most ubiquitous, recognized and copied watch design in the world. But I admit I'm very biased as I have one, a cherished 14060 two-liner, made when they were still generally considered no-nonsense tool watches...with drilled lug holes!

After I used a Citizen Aqualand 11 for many years, and it gave far more diving related information than a simple time lapse bezel on my SD. Any dive watch today is mainly used purely as a back up just encase dive computer fails.
Did not know you lost it in the Red Sea, heartbreaking!

I was diving in the Florida Keys and the captain told me the day before someone lost his sub close to where we were diving and to keep an eye out. I looked a lot, kinda ruined my dive since I was looking for the dang watch over enjoying myself.

Daytona is too fussy, 3rd party movement, bezel too delicate, dial too busy.

Sub is king.

Should be a caveat to how advanced you are into the culture as to how you view models because it does change over time.

Certainly the SS Sub is one of those watches everyone just getting into ROLEX wants to buy. It’s entry level in the fact that most every entry level buyers buys it or a DJ as their first Rolex. The SS Sub is literally everywhere and being so common has more advanced buyers looking for more unique options and there are a lot of them. Because it is so copied also makes the general “black bezel dive watch” even more pedestrian. This is why many of us were drawn to the LVC way before it was popular as it was viewed as just a odd green Submariner. If Rolex came out with a blue SS Sub most would loose their mind to get one.

I think the shear amount of homages and copies of the Sub solidify its status as “king”. That being said, historically, the Fifty Fathoms did come first. HOWEVER, further investigation will show that Squale designed and manufactured the original Fifty Fathoms case and provided cases for many other dive watch makers. So is Squale king?

Submariner is King!

It's laughable when some Youtubers say Blancpain Fifty Fathoms or Glashutte SeaQ are the premier divers. They're both great watches, no doubt, but let's be honest here. Neither one is King.

I'd rank Omega Seamaster 300mp #2.

There’s a reason it’s been so popular for so many years.

Unbelievable watch & not a passing fad like some models.

Yes, IMO the Rolex Sub is the king of mechanical dive watches. A king doesn’t need to be the strongest, oldest, smartest, or even costliest in the land, but he is the figurehead. The Sub is the image that most people think of when they think of dive watches.

Daytona isn't even the king of Chronos, so I am not sure how you can conclude it's the king of divers.

Speedmaster, Navitimer, El Primero quickly come to mind...

Aside from the sub, which I think is the best overall looking watch, what about the Omega Heritage Seamaster 300 in terms of actual use? With the domed sapphire glass, the lumed bezel markers, and the Coaxial movement it seems like a pretty functional piece. Again, not anything like a dive computer of course, but it's half the price of buying a sub through a grey.

It sure looks nice on leather but Rolex hands down definitely has the best bracelets. Personally I would like to have both the 124060 and this one.
