Is the submariner the king of the jungle ?

I must have mis-read the original post…

I read “king” of divers… not the most iconic or best value or whatever…

King, to me in this case, is the most technical diver watch that can reach the depth others cannot.

So without a doubt, it would be Omega ultra deep pro.

If it has to be Rolex, it would be the seadweller deepsea.

Sub is a wonderful and iconic watch.. but it’s only king of being the most popular diver imo.

Btw, I own a sub so not hatin. Lol

Oh no, you mentioned Omega which I could make some very good arguments from their dive line. “King” to many is the most popular but one could also argue if McDonalds makes the best hamburger of all times because they sold more of those as well.

Not fond of the all black; like the looks of the bluesy quite a lot and as I mentioned I've got one on order. I just draw the line at trying to promote it as the king of all dive watches or that it needs to be in everyones collection. It's a great watch with a great history but it's time as the king of dive watches is thirty years in the past. It's a great Rolex with a tremendous history. There are far better watches for real diving however.

and Rolex subs are no where near to being the most popular or the
best. How many divers do you think use a watch in the subs price
class,as a back up dive watch today?

Sub is perhaps the most popular diver, but that means it is not a king. A king can't be such common. The king of Rolex divers is not doubt the DSSD.

Some of you are over thinking and taking it too literally.

Everyone knows that some dive watches can dive deeper, some dive watches are more affordable for divers, etc.

Sub is the overall king in the diver class of watches. Period.

I like older Submariners but the new ones look shiny, bulky and unfinished (just my opinion) For a time I had the 300m Omega Bond Style with sword hands and printed black dial that came before the co-ax movement was introduced. It was a fine watch but not so nice or comfortable as my 5513 but it looked better than any of the new overweight Submariners/Seadwellers. If I were shopping now I'd probably go for the Tudor, not just because its better value but has a more sensible design and feel.

It’s like this, if I had any other dive watch other than a sub, technically better or not, more expensive or less, etc, I would always look at it and think, man it’s not a sub. There are more that think like me than not, thus the sub popularity. I don’t know what if anything can change this. Perception and brand strength is strong with this one.
