Try it on first. The SD 43mm is a really well balanced model.
It fits me better than a Sub.It has got much more wrist presence than the Sub,that many today find to small for a dive watch. |

OP, the DS43 is 2.5mm larger lug to lug, but those lugs are significantly slimmer than on your Sub. It is, however, quite a bit thicker, and the caseback is a love it or hate it for many.
I had a sub before my SD43 viewed from above, the surface area is pretty much the same as a supercase sub (like yours). The SD is heavier and as I said thicker. The case back works for me and its an easy daily wearer. But best to try if you can. My wrist is very flat and around 6.75. t

Similar angles of both the SD4K and SD43 just for comparison. Big fan of the aesthetics of the SD43, it’s a gorgeous watch. But I much prefer the 40mm SD4K. On your wrist the 43 may be a bit big but so what if you like it. If you can get one it’s worth trying out. Sea-Dwellers are my preferred diver. Good luck on your decision

I think u should post a pic so OP and others can see that it’s not just based on wrist size, but shape as well
Ur pic will prob sway the Op to get the sd43 lol OP, u have a flat wrist and sd43 would prob look great on it imo. Will the protruding caseback bother u?… that will depend on whether the sd43 like u or not.

In many respects it boils down to comfort and personal taste. Only you can decide that. However the trend is away from larger watches in general, some might say a return to normal. I see more posts of men signing the praise of 36mm watches where a couple of years ago it was widely considered to be best for women.

Superb watch. Take it for a test drive first. It's not that big.

I have a 6.5" wrist and the SD43 fits so well and has a great balance. If you have a flat wrist then I believe you will be very happy with it.

You’re keep your black sub and looking to add a SD43? Why?? Go for something different. Seems like too much of the same to me.

I originally thought the picture was of an sd43.
The sub looks pretty big on you and the sd43 is a monster, my absolute favourite though. However think I would stick to the sub if I were you. |

I'm about 5'11 180lbs and wore a DSSD for a few days. It was just too thick for me. It feels very different from the sub but again wear what you like.

Absolutely, but it also depends on how much you like it because that is the most important thing.

From the pics it looks like you could. From my limited experience and exposure to the SD43, it doesn't seem to wear much larger than the 11 and 12 series Subs visually, however, it is quite a bit thicker and heftier though and you will definitely feel the difference.

Wear whatever makes you happy, but since you asked... I think it would be too large. The sub in your picture is on the verge of being too large in my opinion ( which isn't worth much ).

I have 7.25” wrists and wouldn’t wear one. Submariner fits me better.

lol im an idiot, i glanced at the photos, then began reading through the thread and was starting to become incredulous at the "no" comments and that a sub looks better on you and would be perfect etc etc
it dawns on me and i scroll back up to find the pictures are indeed you wearing a sub, NOT a seadweller and i agree it looks wonderful on you. the sd43 may fit as well, but it wont look any better..maybe the same, maybe not as proportioned but the seadweller is a very cool watch indeed and as said above if you have the opportunity and want it then get it and wear it with confidence. it wont be so comically ill-proportioned that itll look horrible on you, just full bodied lol. and if its not going to be your only watch then just mix the seadweller into rotation here and there and enjoy |

Yep, the size isn't the issue. Rolex's ridiculous caseback design is the issue. My most worn watches are 42.5 and 43.5 mm but the SD43 was

I always tell people to buy whatever they want . Seeing the SD43 and Submariner pictured next to each other on your wrist the Sub looks perfect on you .

Based on that picture, it looks just a tad too big but not to the point where you couldn’t wear it. I think that sub looks perfect on you.
The SD43 was my top choice until I wore one for a few days. It’s a top-heavy watch. That extra weight tends to pull it to the sides of your wrist unless wear it tightly. I’m wearing a 114060 now on a 7.5 inch wrist and couldn’t be happier. |

Self taken photos don’t matter, most people on here default to “looks great”, no matter the size or how it looks. In my opinion, a lot of people wear watches that look way too big.

There are other factors to consider….
For getting opinions, we’d need pics from a bit farther away, and of your arm up to your elbow. I think that definitely comes into play when looking to see if it looks too big. If your arm is thin from wrist to elbow, then you have to look at other factors ….bulk of the watch, lug overhang, etc… If you have a bigger forearms, bigger/bulkier watch may suit you fine. For example…my wrists are 6.75 and I’m 150lbs, but an athletic build, bigger forearms, and wear jeans a d t-shirts daily. So I feel I can pull off bigger watches (not crazy big, but DSSD big). Like I said , many factors come in to play, especially when sizing up a bulky dive watch. For what it’s worth, from your pics, I’d say both are fine, especially in today’s society, with the relaxed attire, old school unwritten rules out the window, etc…. The SD43 doesn’t look out of place. |

Sub for sure (although honestly the Sub is even a little large for you)
Sometimes we have to realize the limitations our individual wrist size or shape puts on our ability to wear the watches we covet. My rather large and flat wrist makes watches like the Daytona wear too small for me. Works both ways. I think a 39 mm OP or Explorer would look perfect on you |
