I'm not sure if things like this are just made up and posted on the forum. There are plenty of watch stores in the world it true.

I know a certain AD that ask for your name card as well so they can take a photo and upload it onto your profile...

It's crazy all right. It'd probably be easier to get a job with MI-6, lol, than to go through the hoops that this AD is requiring to purchase a watch. Hopefully you have other ADs to work with. Or just go with the secondary market.

Sorry, at what point do people just tell Rolex AD's to F off and leave the store with your dignity? Is spending thousands for a watch not good enough? Now one has to be worthy enough to spend their hard earned money?
That's how I feel. There's no way in hell I'd fill out a form and list personal info that's none of the AD's business. F that, indeed.

AD has a watch in stock, great! Here's a $100 stack. Can I have the watch or should I let someone else fan themselves with these notes?

It's unreal what's become of purchasing certain watches. I was treated with kindness and respect for my first Rolex over 20 years ago. Walking into a family owned watch and jewelry shop looking clean but casually dressed I was taken care of like a close friend. Got 12% off MSRP as well. This was when 5% was the common discount at an AD. Not long after the purchase they let me test drive an oyster bracelet on the DJ I bought. Swapped it out at no cost, I tried it for a few days but missed the jubilee comfort and swapped it back. No questions, forms, references, etc.

It's not even just the watches and their availability. It comes down to how people behave and treat each other these days.

Really nice story.
The rest is for p&&sies.

People and respect above all.

Is it true that if you are on “the list” with one Ad (Mappin&Webb) you can not be put on a list with watches of Switzerland as they are part of the same company. Or even can you be put on a register of interest with multiple Ad’s but different locations. So for example Mappin&Webb on Bond st and then Mappin&Webb on regent st etc.

When I registered my interest, I was informed it is all centralised for WoS - so if you attempt to be on multiple WoS lists (incl M&W etc.) they will remove you from all (supposedly).

No they transfer your details over from one store to the other. You can only be on a list/lists with one of there stores.

After enquiring about a watch I wanted, and the AD looking up that I had Rolex history with them, I had to fill out a form stating why I wanted/deserved a particular piece that I was interested in. I begrudgingly did this. Then recently it came to light that a friend of mine with zero history with the dealer at all managed to get the last of the 39mm Explorers, didn't have to fill out any forms or anything. Goes to show the list and the hoops they want you to jump through are total rubbish

Bio's have been common place for 12-18 months now.
It's supposed to be biography of the customer, but is essentially this its more about your purchase history with your AD.

Perhaps in the UK, but certainly not in the land of freedom fries…
