Lost Sentimental Rolex While Golfing...

....is safely returned.

"BADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) - Kenneth Whitt feels like he won the lottery.

He didn’t really win anything, but recently had a prized possession returned to him. A few months ago, while playing golf at the Waterlefe Golf and River Club in Bradenton, he lost his Rolex watch.

“It hurt my heart,” said Whitt....

The watch was given to him by his wife and two daughters nearly 30 years ago. He said his girls helped pick it out and it was very meaningful to him.

He wore it daily until the day he lost it."

This might be a good point for one of those " Is it safe to wear playing golf" posts....

Yes - if more people could compose themselves along the spirit of the game we would have a more perfect Union.

I've played Waterlefe many times.

Hole 2 is my least favorite hole on the course. Ugly and more difficult than it's distance suggests.

Been in those woods a few times myself, but never found a Rolex :)

Nice. Bracelet looks like it may need some attention before it goes missing again. That’s quite a lot of pin showing.

Nice that it was found and returned!

I had a buddy lose a wallet at our golf course the day before he was set to leave for Mexico. It’s pitch black out, a card kid with a flashlight finds it 30 min later. It was unreal. Then we proceeded to argue about how much he needs to pay the kid. I won, he paid $250. I’m sure it made the kids day.

Growing up, one of my best friends used to be the guy who had to 'clean out' the golf carts.... Here in Miami Florida... At what is now Trump's golf course in Miami, used to be one of the best in the country....

Anyway...

He would find Rolexes in those carts every single week... and every single time he'd find the owner, and the owner would give him a very very fat tip for his honesty.

I think he made over $10k one year with found Rolex tips alone...

I'm lovin this point of view as I love the game, even though now my physical condition has prevented me from continuing this hobby.

Awesome to hear OP got his watch back! Am a little salty though as I've never gotten any lost sunglasses back over the years, not once

Agreed. Seems off to me. Maybe someone swiped the dial before returning it?

I'd side on the side of dial variants from 30 years ago. It's extremely possible that there was a dial replacement as well. At any rate glad the chap got his watch back!!!

Golfers are a good lot of people. I've lost several things on various golf courses and got them back. I've also personally turned in many things; clubs, range finders, wallet, sun glasses, but if I find a ball in the brush... I keep it!

Golf not for everyone

Golf is extremely difficult. It obviously helps if one is athletic. When playing 50+ rounds a year I was an 8.2. Now, 20 rounds a year(I don't post anymore) maybe a 10. Golf=Life. The only thing close to it is music and surfing. The three mentioned are not for everyone. I do know the "golfers", "musicians", and "surfers"; the ones that get it are unique and usually have good lives away from the course, ocean, and stage. Of course wearing a Rolex or Tudor always.

So I don’t play golf, and maybe I’m stupid (many of you would already say yes).
How does someone lose a Rolex with a clasp while playing golf? It slides off the wrist unnoticed?

So I guess a spring bar broke or a screw worked its way out. Golf is hard on watches.

Great point- looking at the condition of the watch after 30 years, that’s a real possibility. Thanks for the clarification- another reason not to play!
