Anyhow, there are greater worries in life than to get drawn into these types of debates. Rolex suggested along the line in Basel that 36mm will now be the womans range, or will offer a womans line in the 36mm ('Unisex' then if it makes you feel better). Good input though |

I am in the other camp. I believe 36 MM is perfect for most, but the trends indicate otherwise. Rolex waited too long IMO.

Suggesting that the human race has changed significantly in the last 50 years and that 41mm watches look great with suits on ham-armed professional football players hardly supports an argument that the same watch will be flattering with businesswear for the general public. If anything, it seems counterintuitive to your assertion. 90% of the male population still falls within 2 standard deviations of 70kg.
Last I checked the asian market was huge for rolex, and certainly there are many asians who could sport a 36mm watch without it appearing freakishly small. Buy the watch if you want it. Wear it with a tux if you want. it is the most handome example of djii I've seen, so go for it. There is room in the world for a bigger rolex, but it won't be for everyone. |

IMO this watch will crossover into dress, sport, and casual wear unlike any other model rolex has produced. We all have different tastes.

Guys, I have just been to the AD this afternoon and placed the order... with 15% off!!
I am so pleased. I also tried on the DDII again, this time with the 'classic' champagne baton dial to get a feel for the case size one last time. It was obviously a lot heavier than the SS DJII will be, with it being solid 18k YG. I must admit, I retract my previous statements of 'not really liking' it. It looked much better without a white dial - I believe my incling was correct in thinking that it makes the dial seem larger and therefore more cumbersome. It was very nice indeed, although I wouldnt own one due to solid YG not suiting me personally. I tried on the original DJ on both an oyster (blue dial) and jubilee (white roman) afterwards, and must admit... as classy as they were in terms of beauty, didnt 'look right'. Therefore, to conclude, given time I believe that the new 41mm models will shortly become 'the norm', and the original 36mm's will become their 'antichrists'! What an afternoon. Also tried on another milgauss whilst i was at it (black dial, non green), saw some solid YG daytonas (didnt try on) and enquired about the DSSD. Lo and behold, he said he had one 'in the back'. He brings it out in a fresh plastic jiffy pack, with bezel cover on etc, and I try it on. VERY interesting experience indeed. Didnt actually seem as large as I thought it would in terms of the dial/face, but IMO the case is FAR too big for the bracelet. (or rather, the bracelet is FAR FAR too small for the case). I dont want to kick off a storm here, these are simply my findings and opinons 'from the field' Jokingly, the AD corrected me when I said 'well, i suppose if you were a pro diver then you would love it' he said that pro's are more likely to use digital watches as their primary, and perhaps then this as a secondary. Interesting, made sense really! Let the storm of controversy begin... (i dont intend it to do so) |

Yep, bang on! And the AD will call me as soon as they get ANY dial combo DJII in to check it out, so thats cool. Only had to place a 10% deposit, which they encouraged me to let them know if I simply wanted to change my mind and go for a different dial, to do so
And James is officially name #1 for the first Black baton DJII SS/WG they get in... my first, and special experience. Thanks to all of you again for the advice and knowledge you have shared with me on this forum. When I came, I was looking at the TT Blue or Black sub orignally, and have been educated to decide which model I would be best suited to. So happy |

Poor balance. . .
The face is the same size as a 36mm, so the bezel looks too big and clumsy. I'm really surprised Rolex made this abortion of the DJ series. IMO, adding 2.5mm on radius of bezel and re-branding it a "DJ 2" is just silly.

I agree with JJ that dial is the best choice of the ones I've seen.

Excellent choice! I never considered the DJII until having seen this post. This is exactly the look that I have been waiting for. Finally a timeless piece from rolex and not just one that we all jump on the wagon to have.

Wrong in a way. . .
After design changes to the DJI (markers and lugs) it was decided to add some "colorful" dials to the 36m DJ in an effort to get some more sales by trendy, and or heavy set ladies, and hence the misguided notion Rolex was marketing the 36mm DJ to females only. For the last time, the DJI is and always be a mens watch (or a woman of generous proportions). The choice of watch sizing for the non hip-hop crowd, should be based on your physical characteristics.

Firstly, the thing about 'heavy set ladies' is nonsense. Lindsay Lohan (and many other LA celebs) - 40mm Daytona. not 36mm 'thickset' option. Nonsense. Females ONLY? No, I stated 'unisex', so womens options in addition to mens. It will not be the option 'for women of generous proportions' (whatever the hell that means) - daytona 40mm. Sub 40mm. LA celebs - google them. Few of them I would suggest are of 'generous proportions'. So, you're saying that if you 'are not in the hip hop crowd', then the 36mm DJ or DD is your only option? Foolish. Its like me saying 'if youre a skinny wimp of a man, then the 36mm is your only option'. Daniel Craig - planet ocean - 42mm. Is he 'in the hip hop crowd'? Far from it my friend. Is Yumosata (forgot his name, sorry) into hip hop because he owns a number of 40mm (daytona) watches? Ridiculous to label people like this. I may as well say that you are a '**** of a man if you have small wrists/arms and wear a 36mm watch' (not you personally, 3rd person) My physical characteristics, along with the majority of people, can wear a 41mm watch to answer your final bit. |

How do you know better than me 'what would look silly on me', and what gives you the right to tell me that, or validate your opinion over mine? Dont bother responding and turning this into a personal debate, we're all friends here |

I agree. . .
I've seen a few bony wristed people wearing large watches and it looks absurd. It's tantamount to wearing pants three sizes too large. To each his or her own, but this fad of stupid large watches, like bell bottom pant trend of the '70s or mullets of the '80s, will eventually die. Thankfully.

Congrats on the DJII. I hope you enjoy it greatly. I'm one of the ladies that wears a larger watch and I've been called every name in the book on here for it. The douchecanoe makes a stop on all the "size" threads. |
