Bluesy or Wimbledon

Hello all, ok so I'm in a pickle. I purchased a 2005 ym 16622 about a month ago from my jeweler. I stopped by today to pick up some jewelry I purchased and noticed he had two watches I like. He has a 2016 ceramic submariner two tone and a 2018 Wimbledon Dj Two tone with oyster bracelet. Both are used w/papers. He's willing to take my ym in as a trade and ill pay the difference for either watch. 3k on top for Wimbledon and 5k on top for the bluesy.

My dilemma is I love both watches as I also love my yachtmaster I can not keep all but my ultimate goal is to trade up and work my way into a gmt Pepsi or Rootbeer..

What opinions do you guys have? Unfortunately trading is the only way to reach my goal. So which would you guys choose and why. Thanks in advance

Honestly, I'd keep that piece for the meanwhile.

I think it's better for your pocket to trade once instead of twice, as dealers always get a win in each trade.

I own the YM 116622 and TT Bluesy 126613LB. In your situation, I'd pick the Bluesy, not a huge fan of the so-called Wimbledon dial. The blue Sub on the other hand really pops.

My question to you is are you mentally ready to wear a very showy watch, coming from the retrained, understated and classy YM? I mean this is going the opposite direction, day and night, from quiet and confident to obnoxious, if I may say so.

It's a shame you'd have to part with the YM. To me personally it's a work of art.

Will the jeweler give you what you paid for the YM? If so, then I'd say go with the Bluesy. If not, then stick with the YM until you're ready to get your grail.

Also, of the watches you listed above, my first choice would be Root Beer and second would be Bluesy. I know that I'm different than most, but I'm not a big fan of the stainless steel models.

Hey alphadweller, to answer your question. I am a fan of gold. I wear a gold cuban link chain daily. I think the two tone watch would match better with my jewelry.

Remeber in my post I wrote that my goal is to own a rootbeer or a Pepsi. Which is why I'm trying to trade up to ultimately make that goal a reality.

Yes he is giving me more for the ym. But the out of pocket for the rootbeer is like 10k now which is why I'm trying to get closer with other models

I agree with a lot of the people above. Keep the YM, it’s a brilliant watch! But if you really want to trade, go for the Blusey. The Wimbledon dial is lacking ooomph big time compared to the Bluesey.

As an owner of a 2007 bluesy (bought new at the AD back in 2007), I can tell you it is one of the most beautiful, photogenic, two tone watches Rolex produces. You cannot go wrong with a bluesy in your collection. If your heart desires it more than your current YM, go for it.

Do not go from YM to DJ, especially if you are going to trade it in at a later time.

I trade my YM blue 2021 for GMT BLNR no regret , in your opinion get Sub TT and you will be very happy. Good luck!

Really ???

Just kidding, both are beautiful watches … but …

The DJ is a DJ … every generation of my family has one.

I feel, a Submariner is just a classic catch for any collection … and the Bluesy is the best of the best.

When I wear my DJ, I feel like I’m wearing a watch, and really don’t think about it … when I wear my Bluesy, I feel proud of what I’m sporting on my wrist.

TT Sub is the answer. It has the bling and sporty look that will work anytime. The ceramic bezel is also durable and useful.

I vote Bluesy. Its a great watch and iconic. I really think its the most popular two tone Rolex. You wont regret it.

If you like the bluesy more than the YM then go for it, especially if you’re getting back what you paid for the YM. if you planned to use this watch as a step to trade up later I definitely would not get the Datejust. Like others have said a Datejust is just a Datejust, the bluesy will retain its value much better for a trade up. Just my two cents I was never a fan of the Wimbledon dial, I was offered one by my AD and I gave it a pass.

Wow!!! Many great responses. I’m still torn between my choice I will make one by tomorrow as I will be stopping in to verify all that was said in stone. I am leaning towards the bluesy we’ll just have to see. Thank you all for your honest answers and choices they have really helped.

Personally I'd keep that YM. Every. Single. Time.

However, if you're adamant on changing, then again personally I'd go with the 116613LB without a second's hesitation - not because I particularly love the 116613LB; I just cannot stand the Wimbledon dial.

Bluesy all day long!…Wimbledon dial can be hard to read at times. Keep the YM if you can.
