Any of the BB58 would probably be fine (owner of BB58 blue on bracelet here), but for a respectable do-it-all watch to enter the workforce with, I'd actually recommend the BB36 (dial color of his choice). It is just as substantially built as the Black Bay dive watches, and the 36 mm size will be perfect on his slender wrists.

One thing I really like about the Silver is the Open case back with sapphire crystal that is a very cool feature, even though most people will never see it.

Thanks for that suggestions, they look awesome

If BB36 had the same in-house movement as the BB58 I’d agree but as it doesn’t yet I think the BB58 is a better watch and better value for money.

Valid point. I have heard great things in the forum regarding the ETA or Sellita movement. BB58 is approx 20% more expensive than the BB36/41.

Not sure it is 20% better from a technical perspective. Yet, there is always a premium for an in-house movement.

Another point is service cost. The ETA/Sellita movement will always be more cost effective to service when compared to the in-house.

I had a BB41 for just over a year and time keeping accuracy wise it was a great watch. But technically / specification wise the BB36/41 has a 38hr power reserve and the BB58 has 70 hours - that’s a hell of a difference.

I would say a Heritage Chrono or BB Bronze.

But nobody’s going to ask what degree? Does everyone get a prize now?

I worked hard and got in to Harvard (smart, not lucky, no donations) and only got $5000000 to buy my own Rolexeses (investments).

For us High School drop outs…….the degree is irrelevant.

BB36 with additional straps. It is smaller. has a somewhat vintage Ranger feel to it and if he chucked it in his desk drawer and never wore it again you would not be heart broken.

I think the blue looks more youthful and modern, whereas the black is more versatile for a daily and looks more classic. Good luck!

This on the blue rubber strap looks young and sporty to me. Would be my choice.

I mean the Tudor blackbay chrono or their GMT are more versatile due to the complications which make the watch more functional

Just to satisfy curiosity, he is in his last year of an MBA program at a good school (but not Harvard, though) and looking at consulting or management in the financial industry, but I would rather not provide too many details. If he does well, then he can buy his own Rolex, but he will graduate debt free!

So far, I like the silver BB 58 on leather band as the best option (classy and new model) or a SS black dial with ss bracelet and then he can customize with a NATO strap if he wants or just take it back for a refund or he can choose a different watch.

BB58 black. Way more universal and the blue in my opinion. Buy it on the bracelet and add a fabric strap later.

My favorite way to wear may be on the Rubber B olive green strap. It’s perfectly integrated and looks incredible!

I'm wearing this one today and I love it. It doesn't dress up well, like the Explorer does, but that's a matter of taste. It has a strong wrist presence, despite being 36mm.
