Are you asking if the insert shown is a replacement? Or do you want to get a replacement and asking where to find one?

Seems OK. The lume pearl is what will confirm.

Asking the first question: is the insert shown a replacement. Thoughts?

Thank you CJ. I’m not following your comment on the lume pearl? Meaning the pearl on an original insert is lume and a replacement is not?

I must be the only one who can see the mark on the insert?

You can have a new one installed if that mark really bothers you.

I would touch it up with a green marker until next service.

Give your RSC a call and ask them for a price.

Your question is not asked at all. Are you asking if it’s been replaced? If it’s period correct for the year and serial number? Different years have different fonts and text thicknesses. I would need to see the lume pearl closer to see if it’s authentic. Here are some links of pertinent info
https://www.watchclub.com/curated-by...ry-sub-decoded

https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/vint...nn-t11697.html

Link with serial number IDs for cases and bracelets to see if they match.

I just got one 2 months ago. So did a LOT of research. Take a better picture of the pearl.

Sort of.

The pearl will illuminate but not as robust as the maxi dial indices.

On aftermarket ones they’re also plastic. Where on the factory ones they’re not.

But for the exact materials used I’ll defer to a Technical expert. I personally think yours is fine.

There are some very very good aftermarket versions of these inserts. There are also more variations than shown on websites that categorise the different marks. You need to check the lume pip from the back to confirm. A genuine one will have 4 crimp marks around the outer edge.

I tried to do the same for my Kermit and was told it can only be done during a full service and it’s a swap only. They don’t give you the old insert.
Since mine doesn’t need service and I have a flat 4 I decided to wait

Hey andad thanks for the response. Are you talking about the dot at minute 28? I do see that.

Sorry for my poor question, which is: does this look like an authentic and period-correct dial to Z serial (2006)? Thoughts?

Thanks so much for the response —

You’re totally right — My question sucked! So, my question is: does this look like an authentic and period-correct dial to Z serial (2006)?

Some pearl shots:

Thanks for pic so it’s authentic. The metal around the pearl dot confirms it for me. I have 2 aftermarket inserts from when I didn’t have my LV and the metal around the pearl dot was a different shape from the original. The font on the numbers is a later thick and I’d call it fuzzy type. I have that on my M serial LV. Let me see those links again to see if it’s period correct again. It close from what i remember. But it is authentic. Easy references to see authenticity is the font of the 5 in 50. The bottom of the 5 pretty much form a closed circle. The aftermarket ones I’ve seen and owned wer almost always off

Thku so much — super helpful. What “links” are you referring to above for period-correctness, and I’ll send some pics?

Thank you again for the help and your time on this one.

Kermit replacement insert? Any insights greatly appreciated!

The 3rd web page link I sent is a thread from this forum that breaks down the serial numbers to years produced. It also shows the 2 letter codes in the bracelet clasp to identify the year of production. My 2007 LV has an EO stamped code inside the clasp on the upper right corner. That code matches my M serial number in likely year of production. It has matched for me but could see how slight overlap could happen since there were various variations of the beautiful and special model. I am lovin’ mine!

Remove the insert (easy to do) and look at the reverse side. Often, the reverse side tells more than 79 forum members type...just saying.

Yes the shape of the rear of the insert is different on some aftermarket ones as well as the markings on the rear of the lume dot

Man that looks awesome. My clasp code is OP, 2006 corresponds to Z serial. And that all seems to line up with this bezel insert.

Thks for your help!

If it’s that tiny mark near the bottom I’d leave it for now

Thku agreed. My question, which was so poorly asked originally, was not whether I should replace the insert, but whether this appeared to be a service replacement insert Or a period correct original?
