Service pouches

I recently had to visit my local RSC twice, and each time got a service pouch - interestingly, there are 2 different types:

The dark green with gold lettering seems to be the traditional one, while the lighter green one I believe is new and what they are issuing now. New one is not as nice looking in my opinion, but looks like it would offer more protection since it is more rigid.

Anyway, just wanted to share.

I had my TT DJ serviced at the RSC in Lititiz, PA in 2009. I got the watch back in the pouch pictured on the right, except it did not have ROLEX in gold on it. I had the same TT DJ serviced at the same RSC this year and got the watch back a few weeks ago in the pouch pictured on the left. I like both.

My Bluesy came back from the UK RSC last month after a warranty repair. It was in the soft pouch.

I'm told (by someone here with good knowledge in this area) that the bigger leather one is for watches having out of warranty repair work and servicing. They replaced the soft pouch a couple of years back.

The soft pouch has also been modified. It's a bit shorter now.

Ah, yes that makes sense. It was an out of warranty service where i got the big leather one, and the smaller pouch i got when they replaced the caseback that they scratched during that service…

Both are great but I preferred the new one over the old one.

Service pouches

When I bought my DD (228206) they didn’t yet have the big box it comes with, so they gave me the pouch on the left (new version) to take it home. Still have the pouch, the box came about 3-weeks later.

One of my watches came back from service and I was given the new one; really like the quality of it, and the pouch comes in a box!

I’ve had two five-digits serviced over the past few months and each came back w the newer, leather pouch w the foam insert. Seems like more protection than the older soft pouch (which I also have).

Have they improved the service warranty card as well or is it still just laminated paper?

The new one looks like it provides drastically more protection over the old one.

Can these be purchased other than eBay by a Rolex Accessories store or direct from Rolex ?
Leather one looks lovely …

I received back from RSC-NY four watches that needed varying amount of work. I was told by Customer Service, the following, regarding the difference in pouches that my watches were returned in.

Complete overhaul, outside of Warranty, will be returned in the New Leather, Two Button pouch, obviously with a new Service Warranty Card (laminated Paper).

Watches not getting Complete Overhaul, or within Factory or Service Warranty will be sent back in Soft Suede pouch. (No warranty card)

FWIW

I wonder why there are two pouches now? Are they slowly phasing out the older style? I like the left one more, it seems like it would be more substantial/protective.
