Remember KY, WV, and SW VA Flood Families !

28+ dead, many more missing, many families are struggling. Some of these areas were hit twice in a 15 day period.

If this were some other area, the media coverage would be continuous, and the assistance would be a national effort, but since it’s in the coal mining areas of Kentucky, West Virginia, and Southwest Virginia, …………………… hardly a word. The individuals of this area work miles underground in the most horrid conditions that most of you could never imagine. Think about that next time you flip that light switch. Sorry, had to say it !

Not enough credit is given to miners
I am sure most of us cannot imagine how dangerous hard and dirty the work is
successive Uk governments have all but destroyed our coal industry
Now we are paying for it literally

A tremendous tragedy, so many people lost, displaced, and lives ruined forever.

Agree Don, overlooked and under appreciated. Many people have no idea.

Thank you Don for sharing. Hoping the communities can recover quickly. And makes you really question the media, that this has been swept over. Media has their addiction to metro markets.

The outlet that I watch( the most watched in America) devotes a minute here and a minute there throughout the day but Spam being locked up in NYC has gotten way more coverage. I live just over a mountain range or two from the affected area. It’s pretty much poor Appalachia. Prayer’s for everyone affected.

Damn. That is awful. Thanks for sharing, Don, I hadn’t seen this in the news over here in Australia. What a tragedy.

Out of the hundreds still missing, many were parents. I can’t imagine how traumatizing for your parent(s) to leave home one day, never to return.

I'm hearing about this all the time. Not sure which media outlets you are consuming.

It’s been back page in all the mainstream. I consume others and have read this but my comments were specific to mainstream. They only promote what is in their interest at the time. You can certainly read about it if you search. But I would challenge you to find one mainstream national source that is promoting this and promoting fundraising for those impacted. I also challenge you to compare this to the coverage of California wildfires in the mainstream over the years. We all know national media has their agendas and cater to their advertisers preferences. Not as many consumers equals unequal coverage of disasters at Fox News, CNN, MSNBC among others..

Not being difficult to be difficult but where do you see them even mentioning? Maybe on their radio programs that air all day but I haven’t seen much here on their website.

Regardless I hope people donate to help those impacted.
