I am trying to figure out what would be the costs (if any) that would occur once I am a proud owner of an aftermarket DJ.
How often did you have to adjust yours for accuracy? What does this cost appr?
Did you have to give it for polishing? Where?

Not sure what you mean by a after market DJ unless you mean a second hand one,if yes if no device history it would be prudent to have RSC service.Cost around $700 after service watch will be polished like new with a two year warranty then depending on use could be good then for 10 years of wearing..

Yea. Current base price for service is roughly $700 + any replacement of parts that are damaged or worn due to age. Plan on sending in every 10 years or so. I was closer to the 15 year mark on my YM. All good.

Generally you don't do anything with your watch for a decade or so. After that you might send it in for an overhaul and cleaning. This service call runs around 700 USD, so the average would be around 70USD annually if that is how you want to view it.

Alternatively, you could do nothing with your watch for that same decade, and sell it for the price you paid. Costs would be zero in this case.

What I mentioned about the clasp replacement cost that is only if its really damaged of course, which will hardly happen. Adjustment could be within warranty work. Just enter "the watch polisher" on instagram or google and be amazed what these companies do! Keep us updated when you buy one!

The only thing I’d add is that you must account for inflation.

So the $700 you’ve seen mentioned here would be the price today - in 10 years the same service could cost $900+

Even in deflationary periods, Rolex’s price for servicing a watch went up.

And this assumes no parts would fail from damage - be sure the 2nd hand watch you buy is inspected. There could be hidden damage inside. Otherwise, your cost assumptions might be affected.

If it’s an older model and it runs fine no costs for many years to come.

The new ones your mileage may vary, if no warranty it may become expensive
