Interesting on the Ferrari forum. One camp says people will still buy Ferrari models on the name alone while the other camp says there will be nothing to differentiate Ferrari EVs from other EVs.

Who wants an exotic sports car with fake engine sounds pumped in over the audio. Just make the damn sports cars as hybrids or keep as ICE, it’s not like they are driven a ton of miles anyway. And it’s not like EVs are as clean as portrayed either.

Driven the new ferrari 296 and mclaren artura. Neither was as exciting as I hoped they would be. Wanted to love them more than I did. I think they are very nice but just not Something I’d shoot for at this point.

ICE vs EV are totally different driving experiences. I solved the problem one of each!

Interestingly the Tesla Model 3 Performance does 0-60 in about 3.1 seconds. That's a crazy amount of performance from a car that starts around $55k. It's fun to drive and is a great commuter car. But I still prefer the rumble and power of a BMW M or M Sport.

Ferrari needs to take a page out of Porsche’s book and build a manual NA touring car.

Not a fan of the EV stuff at all. A large part of the allure of an Italian is the powertrain. Once Ferrari goes full EV they will find themselves competing with Tesla, Ford and everyone else because the performance will be the exact same. Arguably, the tech on the Italians is horrible and will be far behind its competitors. Hell, Ferrari uses GM's magnaride LOL.

I'll buy an electric Ferrari if it's 0-60 is 1.2 seconds and top speed is 305 mph.

The noise of a supercar is 50% of the experience IMO. being in the car industry, I’ve put my hands on a few hybrids one being the sf90. Completely ruined the experience

296 is a really great all around sports car. Excellent ride quality. The interior updates are great as well. It’s uncanny driving in electric mode without the exhaust noise at all. Doesn’t feel faster than 488, though it probably is. Just couldn’t feel it. Design is something to see in person as pictures don’t do it much justice. I think it’s a great car overall. Just not a big enough delta compared to my 488 spider.

I wouldn't, Italians are not known for their tech.

That's what I thought...I felt the same when shopping for an F8, the difference in the delta to my 458 Italia at the time was too much for just some updates in technology mostly and some restyle to the body. Your 488 spyder has gone up a lot in value and it certainly sounds better than the 296. I have not heard the 296 live, but I can bet that the V6 will not sound better than your V8.

Post pics of your car please!!

I would take an older 360 Modena over a v6 Ferrari any day. Too bad the manufactures have decided to go from extreme to extreme ie maxing out ICE power to full EV and largely skipped hybrids and making their ICE engines more efficient. Only so much power is useable outside of the track anyway.

honestly the F8 looks like a downgrade over the 458. the 458 is perfection from the design to the exhaust note. i would go as far as saying the design is flawless (and the 488 as well). the new ferraris look great but just don't compare. they're a bit too fancy with all the aero and lines and who knows how that'll age

it's gonna be a very weird era for cars and i wonder how these will age in the future. i think the golden era of cars was like 2005-2015

After turning 50 their is no point in driving a sports cars anymore. Who am I trying to impress and speed is only good for crashing. Now would love to own an electric wakeboard boat. Gas is killing me this summer.

These are the last vehicles that should ever be electric. The majority of the passion/aura/mystique associated with them comes directly from the powertrain. It’s like Starbucks announcing they’ll no longer sell coffee to focus on flavored waters. Like wtf? Leave the rolling Dustbusters to Tesla.

How much do battery changes cost? i read that the battery can cost more than some used cars are worth. For those with battery-powered cars, what is the cost, and do you plan to flip/sell the car before a battery change needs to be done and let someone else deal with it?
