That's not too bad of a color combo, although after Patek release, I prefer their sytle of color change, this is starting to feel a bit like apple product release with the color rainbow.

Hello everyone, this question might have been answered already. But I was wondering why the QP wasn’t part of the 50th anniversary collection? Is it maybe because they are preparing to replace the 5134 calibre? Same thing with the Openworked 41mm and 37mm.

Blue QP was delayed from last year, not really a planned 50th piece - and yes there is a new movement due too, so both are factors.

It was AP's philosophy that only NEW references 'born' this year were to be given the 50th rotor, although limited editions don't appear to be included in that thinking, e.g. Bucci. Openwork models e.g. 15407, 15412, 15416 etc. are all models from prior to 2022 and simply retained into this year, thus not 'new' and deserving of 50th rotors.

Although that does beg the question though, if one submitted a request for a custom rotor on QP in white metal with 50 inthe design if they would decline the request! Lol.

Do you have any future insight on if the new caliber will be growing in thickness like the other watch designs that have come out?

No idea on the custom rotor but from various conversations I’ve had over the years and with various people, AP are very protective of any design and won’t just let anything go, especially with unique piece designs. For example, if someone wants to modify an existing ROO design, give it a new colour scheme, dial layout, different materials etc, then IF AP had any possibility that they themselves may use such mods in any future releases then they won’t let it through. I’d imagine that a custom rotor that ‘infringes’ on ‘50’ won’t be allowed. Just my opinion though.

As to calibre for new QP, I have no facts and am very unlikely to know before you.

That makes sense, excited to see the new QP movement. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Don’t think that’s unique piece - roughly 30 piece Japan LE

Doesn’t change the fact that it’s been flipped though

Maybe flipping a unique piece (if it really were one) would be like a bad haircut as a teenager. Totally thought it would turn out one way that's super unique, and then total regret after it's done!

Besides the point that it's a pretty hideous watch IMO and certainly not "worth" half a mile -

I don't quite understand who'd flip that. You're one of the select clients who is allocated a 1 of 30 watch by AP... Which means you must have spent tons over a long period of time to even be considered... At that point would it be worth ruining it all for the flip profit?

Not to say I am even playing close to this league, but I'd have to assume once you're in the echelon to be included in x of 100 (or less), 250k or so is almost meaningless to you

Maybe the customer is so important they are exempt from the flipping rules? Blasphemy, I know.

I agree with you but then again plenty of green dial 5711s were / are for sale on the grey market including the ones with diamonds - same applies but people still do it.

The funniest part of those high value watches is when they want half a mil for a watch but then charge you $104 for shipping. Really, you can't toss in free ship with that extravagant of a purchase?

You even see it on 2mil RM pieces.

Squeeze the flip until the end. You might not get another Patek de flip

LOL I hadn't even noticed but that's too funny... Well I guess you could make a 400k profit on the flip or you can make a 400.104k profit on a flip

In any case I agree, once you're considered for a green 5711 or the one shown, you'd just not want to flip. Or I guess you're fed up with it too and just go - EFF it, I'll burn all bridges and cash out and throw the proceeds into cars or sometbing else

Looks like Champagnepapi is asleep at the wheel, so here's two new ROs (at least new to me) from APs website - both WG and "Price on Request":

Looks like the purple QP has already been removed from the website... short lived!
